New International VersionNew Living Translation
Then the LORD said to Moses:1Then the LORD said to Moses,
"Set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, on the first day of the first month.2“Set up the Tabernacle on the first day of the new year.
Place the ark of the covenant law in it and shield the ark with the curtain.3Place the Ark of the Covenant inside, and install the inner curtain to enclose the Ark within the Most Holy Place.
Bring in the table and set out what belongs on it. Then bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.4Then bring in the table, and arrange the utensils on it. And bring in the lampstand, and set up the lamps.
Place the gold altar of incense in front of the ark of the covenant law and put the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.5“Place the gold incense altar in front of the Ark of the Covenant. Then hang the curtain at the entrance of the Tabernacle.
"Place the altar of burnt offering in front of the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting;6Place the altar of burnt offering in front of the Tabernacle entrance.
place the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it.7Set the washbasin between the Tabernacle and the altar, and fill it with water.
Set up the courtyard around it and put the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard.8Then set up the courtyard around the outside of the tent, and hang the curtain for the courtyard entrance.
"Take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and everything in it; consecrate it and all its furnishings, and it will be holy.9“Take the anointing oil and anoint the Tabernacle and all its furnishings to consecrate them and make them holy.
Then anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils; consecrate the altar, and it will be most holy.10Anoint the altar of burnt offering and its utensils to consecrate them. Then the altar will become absolutely holy.
Anoint the basin and its stand and consecrate them.11Next anoint the washbasin and its stand to consecrate them.
"Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water.12“Present Aaron and his sons at the entrance of the Tabernacle, and wash them with water.
Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest.13Dress Aaron with the sacred garments and anoint him, consecrating him to serve me as a priest.
Bring his sons and dress them in tunics.14Then present his sons and dress them in their tunics.
Anoint them just as you anointed their father, so they may serve me as priests. Their anointing will be to a priesthood that will continue throughout their generations."15Anoint them as you did their father, so they may also serve me as priests. With their anointing, Aaron’s descendants are set apart for the priesthood forever, from generation to generation.”
Moses did everything just as the LORD commanded him.16Moses proceeded to do everything just as the LORD had commanded him.
So the tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month in the second year.17So the Tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month of the second year.
When Moses set up the tabernacle, he put the bases in place, erected the frames, inserted the crossbars and set up the posts.18Moses erected the Tabernacle by setting down its bases, inserting the frames, attaching the crossbars, and setting up the posts.
Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering over the tent, as the LORD commanded him.19Then he spread the coverings over the Tabernacle framework and put on the protective layers, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He took the tablets of the covenant law and placed them in the ark, attached the poles to the ark and put the atonement cover over it.20He took the stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant and placed them inside the Ark. Then he attached the carrying poles to the Ark, and he set the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—on top of it.
Then he brought the ark into the tabernacle and hung the shielding curtain and shielded the ark of the covenant law, as the LORD commanded him.21Then he brought the Ark of the Covenant into the Tabernacle and hung the inner curtain to shield it from view, just as the LORD had commanded him.
Moses placed the table in the tent of meeting on the north side of the tabernacle outside the curtain22Next Moses placed the table in the Tabernacle, along the north side of the Holy Place, just outside the inner curtain.
and set out the bread on it before the LORD, as the LORD commanded him.23And he arranged the Bread of the Presence on the table before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle24He set the lampstand in the Tabernacle across from the table on the south side of the Holy Place.
and set up the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD commanded him.25Then he lit the lamps in the LORD’s presence, just as the LORD had commanded him.
Moses placed the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the curtain26He also placed the gold incense altar in the Tabernacle, in the Holy Place in front of the inner curtain.
and burned fragrant incense on it, as the LORD commanded him.27On it he burned the fragrant incense, just as the LORD had commanded him.
Then he put up the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.28He hung the curtain at the entrance of the Tabernacle,
He set the altar of burnt offering near the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, and offered on it burnt offerings and grain offerings, as the LORD commanded him.29and he placed the altar of burnt offering near the Tabernacle entrance. On it he offered a burnt offering and a grain offering, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He placed the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing,30Next Moses placed the washbasin between the Tabernacle and the altar. He filled it with water so the priests could wash themselves.
and Moses and Aaron and his sons used it to wash their hands and feet.31Moses and Aaron and Aaron’s sons used water from it to wash their hands and feet.
They washed whenever they entered the tent of meeting or approached the altar, as the LORD commanded Moses.32Whenever they approached the altar and entered the Tabernacle, they washed themselves, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Then Moses set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work.33Then he hung the curtains forming the courtyard around the Tabernacle and the altar. And he set up the curtain at the entrance of the courtyard. So at last Moses finished the work. The LORD’s Glory Fills the Tabernacle
Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.34Then the cloud covered the Tabernacle, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle.
Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.35Moses could no longer enter the Tabernacle because the cloud had settled down over it, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle.
In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out;36Now whenever the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out on their journey, following it.
but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out--until the day it lifted.37But if the cloud did not rise, they remained where they were until it lifted.
So the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.38The cloud of the LORD hovered over the Tabernacle during the day, and at night fire glowed inside the cloud so the whole family of Israel could see it. This continued throughout all their journeys.
