Then the LORD said to Moses:1Then the LORD spoke to Moses:
"Set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, on the first day of the first month.2"On the first day of the first month you are to set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting.
Place the ark of the covenant law in it and shield the ark with the curtain.3You are to place the ark of the testimony in it and shield the ark with the special curtain.
Bring in the table and set out what belongs on it. Then bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.4You are to bring in the table and set out the things that belong on it; then you are to bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.
Place the gold altar of incense in front of the ark of the covenant law and put the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.5You are to put the gold altar for incense in front of the ark of the testimony and put the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.
"Place the altar of burnt offering in front of the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting;6You are to put the altar for the burnt offering in front of the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting.
place the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it.7You are to put the large basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it.
Set up the courtyard around it and put the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard.8You are to set up the courtyard around it and put the curtain at the gate of the courtyard.
"Take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and everything in it; consecrate it and all its furnishings, and it will be holy.9And take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and sanctify it and all its furnishings, and it will be holy.
Then anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils; consecrate the altar, and it will be most holy.10Then you are to anoint the altar for the burnt offering with all its utensils; you are to sanctify the altar, and it will be the most holy altar.
Anoint the basin and its stand and consecrate them.11You must also anoint the large basin and its pedestal, and you are to sanctify it.
"Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water.12"You are to bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting and wash them with water.
Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest.13Then you are to clothe Aaron with the holy garments and anoint him and sanctify him so that he may minister as my priest.
Bring his sons and dress them in tunics.14You are to bring his sons and clothe them with tunics
Anoint them just as you anointed their father, so they may serve me as priests. Their anointing will be to a priesthood that will continue throughout their generations."15and anoint them just as you anointed their father, so that they may minister as my priests; their anointing will make them a priesthood that will continue throughout their generations."
Moses did everything just as the LORD commanded him.16This is what Moses did, according to all the LORD had commanded him--so he did.
So the tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month in the second year.17So the tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month, in the second year.
When Moses set up the tabernacle, he put the bases in place, erected the frames, inserted the crossbars and set up the posts.18When Moses set up the tabernacle and put its bases in place, he set up its frames, attached its bars, and set up its posts.
Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering over the tent, as the LORD commanded him.19Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent over it, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He took the tablets of the covenant law and placed them in the ark, attached the poles to the ark and put the atonement cover over it.20He took the testimony and put it in the ark, attached the poles to the ark, and then put the atonement lid on the ark.
Then he brought the ark into the tabernacle and hung the shielding curtain and shielded the ark of the covenant law, as the LORD commanded him.21And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, hung the protecting curtain, and shielded the ark of the testimony from view, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Moses placed the table in the tent of meeting on the north side of the tabernacle outside the curtain22And he put the table in the tent of meeting, on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the curtain.
and set out the bread on it before the LORD, as the LORD commanded him.23And he set the bread in order on it before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle24And he put the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table, on the south side of the tabernacle.
and set up the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD commanded him.25Then he set up the lamps before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Moses placed the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the curtain26And he put the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the curtain,
and burned fragrant incense on it, as the LORD commanded him.27and he burned fragrant incense on it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Then he put up the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.28Then he put the curtain at the entrance to the tabernacle.
He set the altar of burnt offering near the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, and offered on it burnt offerings and grain offerings, as the LORD commanded him.29He also put the altar for the burnt offering by the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, and offered on it the burnt offering and the meal offering, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He placed the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing,30Then he put the large basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing.
and Moses and Aaron and his sons used it to wash their hands and feet.31Moses and Aaron and his sons would wash their hands and their feet from it.
They washed whenever they entered the tent of meeting or approached the altar, as the LORD commanded Moses.32Whenever they entered the tent of meeting, and whenever they approached the altar, they would wash, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Then Moses set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work.33And he set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and the altar, and put the curtain at the gate of the courtyard. So Moses finished the work.
Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.34Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.35Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
In all the travels of the Israelites, whenever the cloud lifted from above the tabernacle, they would set out;36But when the cloud was lifted up from the tabernacle, the Israelites would set out on all their journeys;
but if the cloud did not lift, they did not set out--until the day it lifted.37but if the cloud was not lifted up, then they would not journey further until the day it was lifted up.
So the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and fire was in the cloud by night, in the sight of all the Israelites during all their travels.38For the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, but fire would be on it at night, in plain view of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
