New International VersionEnglish Standard Version
"This is what you are to do to consecrate them, so they may serve me as priests: Take a young bull and two rams without defect.1“Now this is what you shall do to them to consecrate them, that they may serve me as priests. Take one bull of the herd and two rams without blemish,
And from the finest wheat flour make round loaves without yeast, thick loaves without yeast and with olive oil mixed in, and thin loaves without yeast and brushed with olive oil.2and unleavened bread, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers smeared with oil. You shall make them of fine wheat flour.
Put them in a basket and present them along with the bull and the two rams.3You shall put them in one basket and bring them in the basket, and bring the bull and the two rams.
Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water.4You shall bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the tent of meeting and wash them with water.
Take the garments and dress Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself and the breastpiece. Fasten the ephod on him by its skillfully woven waistband.5Then you shall take the garments, and put on Aaron the coat and the robe of the ephod, and the ephod, and the breastpiece, and gird him with the skillfully woven band of the ephod.
Put the turban on his head and attach the sacred emblem to the turban.6And you shall set the turban on his head and put the holy crown on the turban.
Take the anointing oil and anoint him by pouring it on his head.7You shall take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him.
Bring his sons and dress them in tunics8Then you shall bring his sons and put coats on them,
and fasten caps on them. Then tie sashes on Aaron and his sons. The priesthood is theirs by a lasting ordinance. "Then you shall ordain Aaron and his sons.9and you shall gird Aaron and his sons with sashes and bind caps on them. And the priesthood shall be theirs by a statute forever. Thus you shall ordain Aaron and his sons.
"Bring the bull to the front of the tent of meeting, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head.10“Then you shall bring the bull before the tent of meeting. Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the bull.
Slaughter it in the LORD's presence at the entrance to the tent of meeting.11Then you shall kill the bull before the LORD at the entrance of the tent of meeting,
Take some of the bull's blood and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger, and pour out the rest of it at the base of the altar.12and shall take part of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger, and the rest of the blood you shall pour out at the base of the altar.
Then take all the fat on the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, and both kidneys with the fat on them, and burn them on the altar.13And you shall take all the fat that covers the entrails, and the long lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, and burn them on the altar.
But burn the bull's flesh and its hide and its intestines outside the camp. It is a sin offering.14But the flesh of the bull and its skin and its dung you shall burn with fire outside the camp; it is a sin offering.
"Take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head.15“Then you shall take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram,
Slaughter it and take the blood and splash it against the sides of the altar.16and you shall kill the ram and shall take its blood and throw it against the sides of the altar.
Cut the ram into pieces and wash the internal organs and the legs, putting them with the head and the other pieces.17Then you shall cut the ram into pieces, and wash its entrails and its legs, and put them with its pieces and its head,
Then burn the entire ram on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the LORD, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the LORD.18and burn the whole ram on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the LORD. It is a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the LORD.
"Take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on its head.19“You shall take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram,
Slaughter it, take some of its blood and put it on the lobes of the right ears of Aaron and his sons, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. Then splash blood against the sides of the altar.20and you shall kill the ram and take part of its blood and put it on the tip of the right ear of Aaron and on the tips of the right ears of his sons, and on the thumbs of their right hands and on the great toes of their right feet, and throw the rest of the blood against the sides of the altar.
And take some blood from the altar and some of the anointing oil and sprinkle it on Aaron and his garments and on his sons and their garments. Then he and his sons and their garments will be consecrated.21Then you shall take part of the blood that is on the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and his garments, and on his sons and his sons’ garments with him. He and his garments shall be holy, and his sons and his sons’ garments with him.
"Take from this ram the fat, the fat tail, the fat on the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, both kidneys with the fat on them, and the right thigh. (This is the ram for the ordination.)22“You shall also take the fat from the ram and the fat tail and the fat that covers the entrails, and the long lobe of the liver and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, and the right thigh (for it is a ram of ordination),
From the basket of bread made without yeast, which is before the LORD, take one round loaf, one thick loaf with olive oil mixed in, and one thin loaf.23and one loaf of bread and one cake of bread made with oil, and one wafer out of the basket of unleavened bread that is before the LORD.
Put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons and have them wave them before the LORD as a wave offering.24You shall put all these on the palms of Aaron and on the palms of his sons, and wave them for a wave offering before the LORD.
Then take them from their hands and burn them on the altar along with the burnt offering for a pleasing aroma to the LORD, a food offering presented to the LORD.25Then you shall take them from their hands and burn them on the altar on top of the burnt offering, as a pleasing aroma before the LORD. It is a food offering to the LORD.
After you take the breast of the ram for Aaron's ordination, wave it before the LORD as a wave offering, and it will be your share.26“You shall take the breast of the ram of Aaron’s ordination and wave it for a wave offering before the LORD, and it shall be your portion.
"Consecrate those parts of the ordination ram that belong to Aaron and his sons: the breast that was waved and the thigh that was presented.27And you shall consecrate the breast of the wave offering that is waved and the thigh of the priests’ portion that is contributed from the ram of ordination, from what was Aaron’s and his sons’.
This is always to be the perpetual share from the Israelites for Aaron and his sons. It is the contribution the Israelites are to make to the LORD from their fellowship offerings.28It shall be for Aaron and his sons as a perpetual due from the people of Israel, for it is a contribution. It shall be a contribution from the people of Israel from their peace offerings, their contribution to the LORD.
"Aaron's sacred garments will belong to his descendants so that they can be anointed and ordained in them.29“The holy garments of Aaron shall be for his sons after him; they shall be anointed in them and ordained in them.
The son who succeeds him as priest and comes to the tent of meeting to minister in the Holy Place is to wear them seven days.30The son who succeeds him as priest, who comes into the tent of meeting to minister in the Holy Place, shall wear them seven days.
"Take the ram for the ordination and cook the meat in a sacred place.31“You shall take the ram of ordination and boil its flesh in a holy place.
At the entrance to the tent of meeting, Aaron and his sons are to eat the meat of the ram and the bread that is in the basket.32And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram and the bread that is in the basket in the entrance of the tent of meeting.
They are to eat these offerings by which atonement was made for their ordination and consecration. But no one else may eat them, because they are sacred.33They shall eat those things with which atonement was made at their ordination and consecration, but an outsider shall not eat of them, because they are holy.
And if any of the meat of the ordination ram or any bread is left over till morning, burn it up. It must not be eaten, because it is sacred.34And if any of the flesh for the ordination or of the bread remain until the morning, then you shall burn the remainder with fire. It shall not be eaten, because it is holy.
"Do for Aaron and his sons everything I have commanded you, taking seven days to ordain them.35“Thus you shall do to Aaron and to his sons, according to all that I have commanded you. Through seven days shall you ordain them,
Sacrifice a bull each day as a sin offering to make atonement. Purify the altar by making atonement for it, and anoint it to consecrate it.36and every day you shall offer a bull as a sin offering for atonement. Also you shall purify the altar, when you make atonement for it, and shall anoint it to consecrate it.
For seven days make atonement for the altar and consecrate it. Then the altar will be most holy, and whatever touches it will be holy.37Seven days you shall make atonement for the altar and consecrate it, and the altar shall be most holy. Whatever touches the altar shall become holy.
"This is what you are to offer on the altar regularly each day: two lambs a year old.38“Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: two lambs a year old day by day regularly.
Offer one in the morning and the other at twilight.39One lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight.
With the first lamb offer a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil from pressed olives, and a quarter of a hin of wine as a drink offering.40And with the first lamb a tenth measure of fine flour mingled with a fourth of a hin of beaten oil, and a fourth of a hin of wine for a drink offering.
Sacrifice the other lamb at twilight with the same grain offering and its drink offering as in the morning--a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the LORD.41The other lamb you shall offer at twilight, and shall offer with it a grain offering and its drink offering, as in the morning, for a pleasing aroma, a food offering to the LORD.
"For the generations to come this burnt offering is to be made regularly at the entrance to the tent of meeting, before the LORD. There I will meet you and speak to you;42It shall be a regular burnt offering throughout your generations at the entrance of the tent of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet with you, to speak to you there.
there also I will meet with the Israelites, and the place will be consecrated by my glory.43There I will meet with the people of Israel, and it shall be sanctified by my glory.
"So I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar and will consecrate Aaron and his sons to serve me as priests.44I will consecrate the tent of meeting and the altar. Aaron also and his sons I will consecrate to serve me as priests.
Then I will dwell among the Israelites and be their God.45I will dwell among the people of Israel and will be their God.
They will know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of Egypt so that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.46And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them. I am the LORD their God.
