Psalm 106
NIV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionEnglish Standard Version
Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.1Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare his praise?2Who can utter the mighty deeds of the LORD, or declare all his praise?
Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right.3Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times!
Remember me, LORD, when you show favor to your people, come to my aid when you save them,4Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people; help me when you save them,
that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation and join your inheritance in giving praise.5that I may look upon the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance.
We have sinned, even as our ancestors did; we have done wrong and acted wickedly.6Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness.
When our ancestors were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.7Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.
Yet he saved them for his name's sake, to make his mighty power known.8Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make known his mighty power.
He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; he led them through the depths as through a desert.9He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry, and he led them through the deep as through a desert.
He saved them from the hand of the foe; from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.10So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy.
The waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived.11And the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them was left.
Then they believed his promises and sang his praise.12Then they believed his words; they sang his praise.
But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold.13But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.
In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test.14But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert;
So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them.15he gave them what they asked, but sent a wasting disease among them.
In the camp they grew envious of Moses and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the LORD.16When men in the camp were jealous of Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD,
The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it buried the company of Abiram.17the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
Fire blazed among their followers; a flame consumed the wicked.18Fire also broke out in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped an idol cast from metal.19They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a metal image.
They exchanged their glorious God for an image of a bull, which eats grass.20They exchanged the glory of God for the image of an ox that eats grass.
They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt,21They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt,
miracles in the land of Ham and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.22wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
So he said he would destroy them-- had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them.23Therefore he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them.
Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his promise.24Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise.
They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the LORD.25They murmured in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the LORD.
So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the wilderness,26Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them that he would make them fall in the wilderness,
make their descendants fall among the nations and scatter them throughout the lands.27and would make their offspring fall among the nations, scattering them among the lands.
They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;28Then they yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead;
they aroused the LORD's anger by their wicked deeds, and a plague broke out among them.29they provoked the LORD to anger with their deeds, and a plague broke out among them.
But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was checked.30Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stayed.
This was credited to him as righteousness for endless generations to come.31And that was counted to him as righteousness from generation to generation forever.
By the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them;32They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account,
for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses' lips.33for they made his spirit bitter, and he spoke rashly with his lips.
They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them,34They did not destroy the peoples, as the LORD commanded them,
but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs.35but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did.
They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them.36They served their idols, which became a snare to them.
They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to false gods.37They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons;
They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.38they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.
They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves.39Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds.
Therefore the LORD was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance.40Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage;
He gave them into the hands of the nations, and their foes ruled over them.41he gave them into the hand of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them.
Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power.42Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power.
Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin.43Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their purposes and were brought low through their iniquity.
Yet he took note of their distress when he heard their cry;44Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry.
for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented.45For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love.
He caused all who held them captive to show them mercy.46He caused them to be pitied by all those who held them captive.
Save us, LORD our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.
Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!" Praise the LORD.48Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, “Amen!” Praise the LORD!
