Psalm 106
NIV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionNET Bible
Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.1Praise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, and his loyal love endures!
Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the LORD or fully declare his praise?2Who can adequately recount the LORD's mighty acts, or relate all his praiseworthy deeds?
Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right.3How blessed are those who promote justice, and do what is right all the time!
Remember me, LORD, when you show favor to your people, come to my aid when you save them,4Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people! Pay attention to me, when you deliver,
that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation and join your inheritance in giving praise.5so I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones, rejoice along with your nation, and boast along with the people who belong to you.
We have sinned, even as our ancestors did; we have done wrong and acted wickedly.6We have sinned like our ancestors; we have done wrong, we have done evil.
When our ancestors were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea.7Our ancestors in Egypt failed to appreciate your miraculous deeds, they failed to remember your many acts of loyal love, and they rebelled at the sea, by the Red Sea.
Yet he saved them for his name's sake, to make his mighty power known.8Yet he delivered them for the sake of his reputation, that he might reveal his power.
He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; he led them through the depths as through a desert.9He shouted at the Red Sea and it dried up; he led them through the deep water as if it were a desert.
He saved them from the hand of the foe; from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.10He delivered them from the power of the one who hated them, and rescued them from the power of the enemy.
The waters covered their adversaries; not one of them survived.11The water covered their enemies; not even one of them survived.
Then they believed his promises and sang his praise.12They believed his promises; they sang praises to him.
But they soon forgot what he had done and did not wait for his plan to unfold.13They quickly forgot what he had done; they did not wait for his instructions.
In the desert they gave in to their craving; in the wilderness they put God to the test.14In the wilderness they had an insatiable craving for meat; they challenged God in the desert.
So he gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them.15He granted their request, then struck them with a disease.
In the camp they grew envious of Moses and of Aaron, who was consecrated to the LORD.16In the camp they resented Moses, and Aaron, the LORD's holy priest.
The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it buried the company of Abiram.17The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it engulfed the group led by Abiram.
Fire blazed among their followers; a flame consumed the wicked.18Fire burned their group; the flames scorched the wicked.
At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped an idol cast from metal.19They made an image of a calf at Horeb, and worshiped a metal idol.
They exchanged their glorious God for an image of a bull, which eats grass.20They traded their majestic God for the image of an ox that eats grass.
They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt,21They rejected the God who delivered them, the one who performed great deeds in Egypt,
miracles in the land of Ham and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.22amazing feats in the land of Ham, mighty acts by the Red Sea.
So he said he would destroy them-- had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them.23He threatened to destroy them, but Moses, his chosen one, interceded with him and turned back his destructive anger.
Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his promise.24They rejected the fruitful land; they did not believe his promise.
They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the LORD.25They grumbled in their tents; they did not obey the LORD.
So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the wilderness,26So he made a solemn vow that he would make them die in the desert,
make their descendants fall among the nations and scatter them throughout the lands.27make their descendants die among the nations, and scatter them among foreign lands.
They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;28They worshiped Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead.
they aroused the LORD's anger by their wicked deeds, and a plague broke out among them.29They made the LORD angry by their actions, and a plague broke out among them.
But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was checked.30Phinehas took a stand and intervened, and the plague subsided.
This was credited to him as righteousness for endless generations to come.31This brought him a reward, an eternal gift.
By the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD, and trouble came to Moses because of them;32They made him angry by the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them,
for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses' lips.33for they aroused his temper, and he spoke rashly.
They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them,34They did not destroy the nations, as the LORD had commanded them to do.
but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs.35They mixed in with the nations and learned their ways.
They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them.36They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them.
They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to false gods.37They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.
They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.38They shed innocent blood--the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. The land was polluted by bloodshed.
They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves.39They were defiled by their deeds, and unfaithful in their actions.
Therefore the LORD was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance.40So the LORD was angry with his people and despised the people who belong to him.
He gave them into the hands of the nations, and their foes ruled over them.41He handed them over to the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them.
Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power.42Their enemies oppressed them; they were subject to their authority.
Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin.43Many times he delivered them, but they had a rebellious attitude, and degraded themselves by their sin.
Yet he took note of their distress when he heard their cry;44Yet he took notice of their distress, when he heard their cry for help.
for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented.45He remembered his covenant with them, and relented because of his great loyal love.
He caused all who held them captive to show them mercy.46He caused all their conquerors to have pity on them.
Save us, LORD our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.47Deliver us, O LORD, our God! Gather us from among the nations! Then we will give thanks to your holy name, and boast about your praiseworthy deeds.
Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!" Praise the LORD.48The LORD God of Israel deserves praise, in the future and forevermore. Let all the people say, "We agree! Praise the LORD!"
