Psalm 86
New International VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
A prayer of David. Hear me, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.1A Davidic prayer. Listen, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God;2Protect my life, for I am faithful. You are my God; save Your servant who trusts in You.
have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.3Be gracious to me, Lord, for I call to You all day long.
Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.4Bring joy to Your servant's life, because I turn to You, Lord.
You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.5For You, Lord, are kind and ready to forgive, rich in faithful love to all who call on You.
Hear my prayer, LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.6 LORD, hear my prayer; listen to my plea for mercy.
When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me.7I call on You in the day of my distress, for You will answer me.
Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.8Lord, there is no one like You among the gods, and there are no works like Yours.
All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.9All the nations You have made will come and bow down before You, Lord, and will honor Your name.
For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.10For You are great and perform wonders; You alone are God.
Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.11Teach me Your way, Yahweh, and I will live by Your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear Your name.
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.12I will praise You with all my heart, Lord my God, and will honor Your name forever.
For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.13For Your faithful love for me is great, and You deliver my life from the depths of Sheol.
Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me-- they have no regard for you.14God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men seeks my life. They have no regard for You.
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.15But You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in faithful love and truth.
Turn to me and have mercy on me; show your strength in behalf of your servant; save me, because I serve you just as my mother did.16Turn to me and be gracious to me. Give Your strength to Your servant; save the son of Your female servant.
Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.17Show me a sign of Your goodness; my enemies will see and be put to shame because You, LORD, have helped and comforted me.
