Psalm 86
New International VersionInternational Standard Version
A prayer of David. Hear me, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.1LORD, listen and answer me, for I am afflicted and needy.
Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God;2Protect me, for I am faithful; My God, deliver your servant who trusts in you.
have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.3Have mercy on me Lord, for I call on you all day long.
Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.4Your servant rejoices, because, Lord, I set my hope on you.
You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.5Indeed you, Lord, are kind and forgiving, overflowing with gracious love to everyone who calls on you.
Hear my prayer, LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.6Hear my prayer, LORD; attend to my prayer of supplication.
When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me.7In my troubled times I will call on you, for you will answer me.
Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.8No one can compare with you among the gods, Lord; No one can accomplish your work.
All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.9All the nations that you have established will come and worship you, my Lord. They will honor your name.
For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.10For you are great, and you are doing awesome things; you alone are God.
Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.11Teach me your ways, LORD, that I may walk in your truth; let me wholeheartedly revere your name.
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.12I will praise you, Lord my God, with my whole being; and I will honor your name continuously.
For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.13For great is your gracious love to me; you've delivered me from the depths of Sheol.
Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me-- they have no regard for you.14God, arrogant men rise up against me, while a company of ruthless individuals want to kill me. They do not have regard for you.
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.15But you, Lord, are a compassionate God, merciful and patient, with unending gracious love and faithfulness.
Turn to me and have mercy on me; show your strength in behalf of your servant; save me, because I serve you just as my mother did.16Return to me and have mercy on me; clothe your servant with your strength and deliver the son of your maid servant.
Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.17Show me a sign of your goodness, so that those who hate me will see it and be ashamed. For you, LORD, will help and comfort me.
