Psalm 16
NKJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionEnglish Standard Version
1A Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.1Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
2O my soul, you have said to the LORD, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”2I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.”
3As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”3As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.
4Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on my lips.4The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names on my lips.
5O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.5The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.
6The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.6The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
7I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.7I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.
8I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.8I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.9Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.
10For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.10For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.
11You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.11You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
