| 2O my soul, you have said to the LORD, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.” | 2I say to the LORD, "You are the Lord, my only source of well-being." |
| 3As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.” | 3As for God's chosen people who are in the land, and the leading officials I admired so much-- |
| 4Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on my lips. | 4their troubles multiply, they desire other gods. I will not pour out drink offerings of blood to their gods, nor will I make vows in the name of their gods. |
| 5O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. | 5LORD, you give me stability and prosperity; you make my future secure. |
| 6The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance. | 6It is as if I have been given fertile fields or received a beautiful tract of land. |
| 7I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. | 7I will praise the LORD who guides me; yes, during the night I reflect and learn. |
| 8I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. | 8I constantly trust in the LORD; because he is at my right hand, I will not be upended. |
| 9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. | 9So my heart rejoices and I am happy; My life is safe. |
| 10For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. | 10You will not abandon me to Sheol; you will not allow your faithful follower to see the Pit. |
| 11You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. | 11You lead me in the path of life; I experience absolute joy in your presence; you always give me sheer delight. |
