NKJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionEnglish Standard Version
Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing?1Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying,
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.”3“Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.4He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:5Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,
“Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”6“As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”
“I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.7I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.8Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”9You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.10Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling.11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.12Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
