Psalm 2
NKJV Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionInternational Standard Version
Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing?1Why are the nations in an uproar, and their people involved in a vain plot?
The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,2As the kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers conspire together against the LORD and his anointed one, they say,
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.”3"Let us tear off their shackles from us, and cast off their chains."
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.4He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:5In his anger he rebukes them, and in his wrath he terrifies them:
“Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”6"I have set my king on Zion, my holy mountain."
“I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.7Let me announce the decree of the LORD that he told me: "You are my son, today I have become your father.
Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.8Ask of me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the ends of the earth as your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”9You will break them with an iron rod, you will shatter them like pottery."
Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.10Therefore, kings, act wisely! Earthly rulers, be warned!
Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling.11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.12Kiss the son before he becomes angry, and you die where you stand. Indeed, his wrath can flare up quickly. How blessed are those who take refuge in him.
