Psalm 2
NKJV Parallel CSB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionChristian Standard Bible
Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing?1Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,2The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers conspire together against the LORD and his Anointed One:
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.”3"Let's tear off their chains and throw their ropes off of us."
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.4The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:5Then he speaks to them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath:
“Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”6"I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain."
“I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.7I will declare the LORD's decree. He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father.
Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.8Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance and the ends of the earth your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”9You will break them with an iron scepter; you will shatter them like pottery."
Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.10So now, kings, be wise; receive instruction, you judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling.11Serve the LORD with reverential awe and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.12Pay homage to the Son or he will be angry and you will perish in your rebellion, for his anger may ignite at any moment. All who take refuge in him are happy.
