So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.1They brought the ark of God and put it in the middle of the tent David had pitched for it. Then they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.2When David finished offering burnt sacrifices and peace offerings, he pronounced a blessing over the people in the LORD's name.
Then he distributed to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins.3He then handed out to each Israelite man and woman a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake.
And he appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to commemorate, to thank, and to praise the LORD God of Israel:4He appointed some of the Levites to serve before the ark of the LORD, to offer prayers, songs of thanks, and hymns to the LORD God of Israel.
Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, and Obed-Edom: Jeiel with stringed instruments and harps, but Asaph made music with cymbals;5Asaph was the leader and Zechariah second in command, followed by Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel. They were to play stringed instruments; Asaph was to sound the cymbals;
Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests regularly blew the trumpets before the ark of the covenant of God.6and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel were to blow trumpets regularly before the ark of God's covenant.
On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the LORD:7That day David first gave to Asaph and his colleagues this song of thanks to the LORD:
Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!8Give thanks to the LORD! Call on his name! Make known his accomplishments among the nations!
Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works!9Sing to him! Make music to him! Tell about all his miraculous deeds!
Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!10Boast about his holy name! Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!
Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!11Seek the LORD and the strength he gives! Seek his presence continually!
Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,12Recall the miraculous deeds he performed, his mighty acts and the judgments he decreed,
O seed of Israel His servant, You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!13O children of Israel, God's servant, you descendants of Jacob, God's chosen ones!
He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth.14He is the LORD our God; he carries out judgment throughout the earth.
Remember His covenant forever, The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,15Remember continually his covenantal decree, the promise he made to a thousand generations--
The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac,16the promise he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac!
And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel for an everlasting covenant,17He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise,
Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan As the allotment of your inheritance,”18saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance."
When you were few in number, Indeed very few, and strangers in it.19When they were few in number, just a very few, and foreign residents within it,
When they went from one nation to another, And from one kingdom to another people,20they wandered from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another.
He permitted no man to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes,21He let no one oppress them, he disciplined kings for their sake,
Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”22saying, "Don't touch my anointed ones! Don't harm my prophets!"
Sing to the LORD, all the earth; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.23Sing to the LORD, all the earth! Announce every day how he delivers!
Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.24Tell the nations about his splendor, tell all the nations about his miraculous deeds!
For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all gods.25For the LORD is great and certainly worthy of praise, he is more awesome than all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the LORD made the heavens.26For all the gods of the nations are worthless, but the LORD made the heavens.
Honor and majesty are before Him; Strength and gladness are in His place.27Majestic splendor emanates from him, he is the source of strength and joy.
Give to the LORD, O families of the peoples, Give to the LORD glory and strength.28Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the nations, ascribe to the LORD splendor and strength!
Give to the LORD the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness!29Ascribe to the LORD the splendor he deserves! Bring an offering and enter his presence! Worship the LORD in holy attire!
Tremble before Him, all the earth. The world also is firmly established, It shall not be moved.30Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is established, it cannot be moved.
Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns.”31Let the heavens rejoice, and the earth be happy! Let the nations say, 'The LORD reigns!'
Let the sea roar, and all its fullness; Let the field rejoice, and all that is in it.32Let the sea and everything in it shout! Let the fields and everything in them celebrate!
Then the trees of the woods shall rejoice before the LORD, For He is coming to judge the earth.33Then let the trees of the forest shout with joy before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth!
Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.34Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good and his loyal love endures.
And say, “Save us, O God of our salvation; Gather us together, and deliver us from the Gentiles, To give thanks to Your holy name, To triumph in Your praise.”35Say this prayer: "Deliver us, O God who delivers us! Gather us! Rescue us from the nations! Then we will give thanks to your holy name, and boast about your praiseworthy deeds."
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! And all the people said, “Amen!” and praised the LORD.36May the LORD God of Israel be praised, in the future and forevermore. Then all the people said, "We agree! Praise the LORD!"
So he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD to minister before the ark regularly, as every day’s work required;37David left Asaph and his colleagues there before the ark of the LORD's covenant to serve before the ark regularly and fulfill each day's requirements,
and Obed-Edom with his sixty-eight brethren, including Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, to be gatekeepers;38including Obed-Edom and sixty-eight colleagues. Obed-Edom son of Jeduthun and Hosah were gatekeepers.
and Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the LORD at the high place that was at Gibeon,39Zadok the priest and his fellow priests served before the LORD's tabernacle at the worship center in Gibeon,
to offer burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering regularly morning and evening, and to do according to all that is written in the Law of the LORD which He commanded Israel;40regularly offering burnt sacrifices to the LORD on the altar for burnt sacrifice, morning and evening, according to what is prescribed in the law of the LORD which he charged Israel to observe.
and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest who were chosen, who were designated by name, to give thanks to the LORD, because His mercy endures forever;41Joining them were Heman, Jeduthun, and the rest of those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the LORD. (For his loyal love endures!)
and with them Heman and Jeduthun, to sound aloud with trumpets and cymbals and the musical instruments of God. Now the sons of Jeduthun were gatekeepers.42Heman and Jeduthun were in charge of the music, including the trumpets, cymbals, and the other musical instruments used in praising God. The sons of Jeduthun guarded the entrance.
Then all the people departed, every man to his house; and David returned to bless his house.43Then all the people returned to their homes, and David went to pronounce a blessing on his family.
