And He entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand.1Then Jesus entered the synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand.
So they watched Him closely, whether He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him.2They watched Jesus closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they could accuse him.
And He said to the man who had the withered hand, “Step forward.”3So he said to the man who had the withered hand, "Stand up among all these people."
Then He said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent.4Then he said to them, "Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath, or evil, to save a life or destroy it?" But they were silent.
And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other.5After looking around at them in anger, grieved by the hardness of their hearts, he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.
Then the Pharisees went out and immediately plotted with the Herodians against Him, how they might destroy Him.6So the Pharisees went out immediately and began plotting with the Herodians, as to how they could assassinate him.
But Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea. And a great multitude from Galilee followed Him, and from Judea7Then Jesus went away with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him. And from Judea,
and Jerusalem and Idumea and beyond the Jordan; and those from Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they heard how many things He was doing, came to Him.8Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan River, and around Tyre and Sidon a great multitude came to him when they heard about the things he had done.
So He told His disciples that a small boat should be kept ready for Him because of the multitude, lest they should crush Him.9Because of the crowd, he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him so the crowd would not press toward him.
For He healed many, so that as many as had afflictions pressed about Him to touch Him.10For he had healed many, so that all who were afflicted with diseases pressed toward him in order to touch him.
And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried out, saying, “You are the Son of God.”11And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, "You are the Son of God."
But He sternly warned them that they should not make Him known.12But he sternly ordered them not to make him known.
And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him.13Now Jesus went up the mountain and called for those he wanted, and they came to him.
Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach,14He appointed twelve (whom he named apostles), so that they would be with him and he could send them to preach
and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:15and to have authority to cast out demons.
Simon, to whom He gave the name Peter;16He appointed twelve: To Simon he gave the name Peter;
James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom He gave the name Boanerges, that is, “Sons of Thunder”;17to James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee, he gave the name Boanerges (that is, "sons of thunder");
Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananite;18and Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot,
and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. And they went into a house.19and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
Then the multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.20Now Jesus went home, and a crowd gathered so that they were not able to eat.
But when His own people heard about this, they went out to lay hold of Him, for they said, “He is out of His mind.”21When his family heard this they went out to restrain him, for they said, "He is out of his mind."
And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebub,” and, “By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons.”22The experts in the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and, "By the ruler of demons he casts out demons."
So He called them to Himself and said to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan?23So he called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan cast out Satan?
If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom will not be able to stand.
And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.25If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end.26And if Satan rises against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand and his end has come.
No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.27But no one is able to enter a strong man's house and steal his property unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can thoroughly plunder his house.
“Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter;28I tell you the truth, people will be forgiven for all sins, even all the blasphemies they utter.
but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation” —29But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, but is guilty of an eternal sin"
because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.”30(because they said, "He has an unclean spirit").
Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him.31Then Jesus' mother and his brothers came. Standing outside, they sent word to him, to summon him.
And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are outside seeking You.”32A crowd was sitting around him and they said to him, "Look, your mother and your brothers are outside looking for you."
But He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?”33He answered them and said, "Who are my mother and my brothers?"
And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers!34And looking at those who were sitting around him in a circle, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers!
For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”35For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother."
