| 1Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given orders to the churches of Galatia, so you must do also: | 1Now about the collection for the Lord's people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. |
| 2On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. | 2On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. |
| 3And when I come, whomever you approve by your letters I will send to bear your gift to Jerusalem. | 3Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem. |
| 4But if it is fitting that I go also, they will go with me. | 4If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me. |
| 5Now I will come to you when I pass through Macedonia (for I am passing through Macedonia). | 5After I go through Macedonia, I will come to you--for I will be going through Macedonia. |
| 6And it may be that I will remain, or even spend the winter with you, that you may send me on my journey, wherever I go. | 6Perhaps I will stay with you for a while, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go. |
| 7For I do not wish to see you now on the way; but I hope to stay a while with you, if the Lord permits. | 7For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits. |
| 8But I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost. | 8But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost, |
| 9For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. | 9because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me. |
| 10And if Timothy comes, see that he may be with you without fear; for he does the work of the Lord, as I also do. | 10When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am. |
| 11Therefore let no one despise him. But send him on his journey in peace, that he may come to me; for I am waiting for him with the brethren. | 11No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers. |
| 12Now concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to come to you with the brethren, but he was quite unwilling to come at this time; however, he will come when he has a convenient time. | 12Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity. |
| 13Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. | 13Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. |
| 14Let all that you do be done with love. | 14Do everything in love. |
| 15I urge you, brethren—you know the household of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the ministry of the saints— | 15You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the Lord's people. I urge you, brothers and sisters, |
| 16that you also submit to such, and to everyone who works and labors with us. | 16to submit to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it. |
| 17I am glad about the coming of Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus, for what was lacking on your part they supplied. | 17I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you. |
| 18For they refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore acknowledge such men. | 18For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition. |
| 19The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you heartily in the Lord, with the church that is in their house. | 19The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house. |
| 20All the brethren greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. | 20All the brothers and sisters here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss. |

| 22If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come! | 22If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed! Come, Lord! |
| 23The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. | 23The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. |
| 24My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen. | 24My love to all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen. |
