New Living TranslationHolman Christian Standard Bible
I will exalt you, LORD, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.1A psalm; a dedication song for the house. Davidic. I will exalt You, LORD, because You have lifted me up and have not allowed my enemies to triumph over me.
O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health.2 LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me.
You brought me up from the grave, O LORD. You kept me from falling into the pit of death.3 LORD, You brought me up from Sheol; You spared me from among those going down to the Pit.
Sing to the LORD, all you godly ones! Praise his holy name.4Sing to Yahweh, you His faithful ones, and praise His holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.5For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor, a lifetime. Weeping may spend the night, but there is joy in the morning.
When I was prosperous, I said, “Nothing can stop me now!”6When I was secure, I said," I will never be shaken."
Your favor, O LORD, made me as secure as a mountain. Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered.7 LORD, when You showed Your favor, You made me stand like a strong mountain; when You hid Your face, I was terrified.
I cried out to you, O LORD. I begged the Lord for mercy, saying,8 LORD, I called to You; I sought favor from my Lord:"
“What will you gain if I die, if I sink into the grave? Can my dust praise you? Can it tell of your faithfulness?9What gain is there in my death, if I go down to the Pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it proclaim Your truth?
Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me. Help me, O LORD.”10 LORD, listen and be gracious to me; LORD, be my helper."
You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy,11You turned my lament into dancing; You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever!12so that I can sing to You and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise You forever.
