Psalm 9
NLT Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationKing James Bible
I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.1To the chief Musician upon Muthlabben, A Psalm of David. I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.2I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
My enemies retreated; they staggered and died when you appeared.3When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence.
For you have judged in my favor; from your throne you have judged with fairness.4For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.
You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have erased their names forever.5Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.
The enemy is finished, in endless ruins; the cities you uprooted are now forgotten.6O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.
But the LORD reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne.7But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.
He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness.8And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.
The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.9The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you.10And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
Sing praises to the LORD who reigns in Jerusalem. Tell the world about his unforgettable deeds.11Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.
For he who avenges murder cares for the helpless. He does not ignore the cries of those who suffer.12When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.
LORD, have mercy on me. See how my enemies torment me. Snatch me back from the jaws of death.13Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:
Save me so I can praise you publicly at Jerusalem’s gates, so I can rejoice that you have rescued me.14That I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation.
The nations have fallen into the pit they dug for others. Their own feet have been caught in the trap they set.15The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.
The LORD is known for his justice. The wicked are trapped by their own deeds. Quiet Interlude16The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.
The wicked will go down to the grave. This is the fate of all the nations who ignore God.17The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
But the needy will not be ignored forever; the hopes of the poor will not always be crushed.18For the needy shall not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever.
Arise, O LORD! Do not let mere mortals defy you! Judge the nations!19Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight.
Make them tremble in fear, O LORD. Let the nations know they are merely human. Interlude20Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.
