| 2I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High. | 2I will be happy and rejoice in you! I will sing praises to you, O sovereign One! |
| 3My enemies retreated; they staggered and died when you appeared. | 3When my enemies turn back, they trip and are defeated before you. |
| 4For you have judged in my favor; from your throne you have judged with fairness. | 4For you defended my just cause; from your throne you pronounced a just decision. |
| 5You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have erased their names forever. | 5You terrified the nations with your battle cry; you destroyed the wicked; you permanently wiped out all memory of them. |
| 6The enemy is finished, in endless ruins; the cities you uprooted are now forgotten. | 6The enemy's cities have been reduced to permanent ruins; you destroyed their cities; all memory of the enemies has perished. |
| 7But the LORD reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne. | 7But the LORD rules forever; he reigns in a just manner. |
| 8He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness. | 8He judges the world fairly; he makes just legal decisions for the nations. |
| 9The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. | 9Consequently the LORD provides safety for the oppressed; he provides safety in times of trouble. |
| 10Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you. | 10Your loyal followers trust in you, for you, LORD, do not abandon those who seek your help. |
| 11Sing praises to the LORD who reigns in Jerusalem. Tell the world about his unforgettable deeds. | 11Sing praises to the LORD, who rules in Zion! Tell the nations what he has done! |
| 12For he who avenges murder cares for the helpless. He does not ignore the cries of those who suffer. | 12For the one who takes revenge against murderers took notice of the oppressed; he did not overlook their cry for help |
| 13LORD, have mercy on me. See how my enemies torment me. Snatch me back from the jaws of death. | 13when they prayed: "Have mercy on me, LORD! See how I am oppressed by those who hate me, O one who can snatch me away from the gates of death! |
| 14Save me so I can praise you publicly at Jerusalem’s gates, so I can rejoice that you have rescued me. | 14Then I will tell about all your praiseworthy acts; in the gates of Daughter Zion I will rejoice because of your deliverance." |
| 15The nations have fallen into the pit they dug for others. Their own feet have been caught in the trap they set. | 15The nations fell into the pit they had made; their feet were caught in the net they had hidden. |

| 17The wicked will go down to the grave. This is the fate of all the nations who ignore God. | 17The wicked are turned back and sent to Sheol; this is the destiny of all the nations that ignore God, |
| 18But the needy will not be ignored forever; the hopes of the poor will not always be crushed. | 18for the needy are not permanently ignored, the hopes of the oppressed are not forever dashed. |
| 19Arise, O LORD! Do not let mere mortals defy you! Judge the nations! | 19Rise up, LORD! Don't let men be defiant! May the nations be judged in your presence! |
