Psalm 9
NLT Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationNew International Version
I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.1For the director of music. To the tune of "The Death of the Son." A psalm of David. I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.2I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.
My enemies retreated; they staggered and died when you appeared.3My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you.
For you have judged in my favor; from your throne you have judged with fairness.4For you have upheld my right and my cause, sitting enthroned as the righteous judge.
You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have erased their names forever.5You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
The enemy is finished, in endless ruins; the cities you uprooted are now forgotten.6Endless ruin has overtaken my enemies, you have uprooted their cities; even the memory of them has perished.
But the LORD reigns forever, executing judgment from his throne.7The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment.
He will judge the world with justice and rule the nations with fairness.8He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity.
The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.9The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you.10Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Sing praises to the LORD who reigns in Jerusalem. Tell the world about his unforgettable deeds.11Sing the praises of the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done.
For he who avenges murder cares for the helpless. He does not ignore the cries of those who suffer.12For he who avenges blood remembers; he does not ignore the cries of the afflicted.
LORD, have mercy on me. See how my enemies torment me. Snatch me back from the jaws of death.13LORD, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death,
Save me so I can praise you publicly at Jerusalem’s gates, so I can rejoice that you have rescued me.14that I may declare your praises in the gates of Daughter Zion, and there rejoice in your salvation.
The nations have fallen into the pit they dug for others. Their own feet have been caught in the trap they set.15The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
The LORD is known for his justice. The wicked are trapped by their own deeds. Quiet Interlude16The LORD is known by his acts of justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.
The wicked will go down to the grave. This is the fate of all the nations who ignore God.17The wicked go down to the realm of the dead, all the nations that forget God.
But the needy will not be ignored forever; the hopes of the poor will not always be crushed.18But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.
Arise, O LORD! Do not let mere mortals defy you! Judge the nations!19Arise, LORD, do not let mortals triumph; let the nations be judged in your presence.
Make them tremble in fear, O LORD. Let the nations know they are merely human. Interlude20Strike them with terror, LORD; let the nations know they are only mortal.
