| 2Don’t you hear the uproar of your enemies? Don’t you see that your arrogant enemies are rising up? | 2For look, your enemies are making a commotion; those who hate you are hostile. |
| 3They devise crafty schemes against your people; they conspire against your precious ones. | 3They carefully plot against your people, and make plans to harm the ones you cherish. |
| 4“Come,” they say, “let us wipe out Israel as a nation. We will destroy the very memory of its existence.” | 4They say, "Come on, let's annihilate them so they are no longer a nation! Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more." |
| 5Yes, this was their unanimous decision. They signed a treaty as allies against you— | 5Yes, they devise a unified strategy; they form an alliance against you. |
| 6these Edomites and Ishmaelites; Moabites and Hagrites; | 6It includes the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites, |
| 7Gebalites, Ammonites, and Amalekites; and people from Philistia and Tyre. | 7Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre. |

| 15chase them with your fierce storm; terrify them with your tempest. | 15chase them with your gale winds, and terrify them with your windstorm. |
| 16Utterly disgrace them until they submit to your name, O LORD. | 16Cover their faces with shame, so they might seek you, O LORD. |
| 17Let them be ashamed and terrified forever. Let them die in disgrace. | 17May they be humiliated and continually terrified! May they die in shame! |
| 18Then they will learn that you alone are called the LORD, that you alone are the Most High, supreme over all the earth. | 18Then they will know that you alone are the LORD, the sovereign king over all the earth. |
