The Levites thirty years old or more were counted, and the total number of men was thirty-eight thousand.3The Levites, thirty years old and upward, were numbered, and the total was 38,000 men.3The Levites were numbered from thirty years old and upward, and their number by census of men was 38,000.3Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.3The Levites 30 years old or more were counted; the total number of men was 38,000 by headcount."
David said, "Of these, twenty-four thousand are to be in charge of the work of the temple of the LORD and six thousand are to be officials and judges.4“Twenty-four thousand of these,” David said, “shall have charge of the work in the house of the LORD, 6,000 shall be officers and judges,4Of these, 24,000 were to oversee the work of the house of the LORD; and 6,000 were officers and judges,4Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges:4Of these," David said, "24,000 are to be in charge of the work on the LORD's temple, 6,000 are to be officers and judges,
Four thousand are to be gatekeepers and four thousand are to praise the LORD with the musical instruments I have provided for that purpose."54,000 gatekeepers, and 4,000 shall offer praises to the LORD with the instruments that I have made for praise.”5and 4,000 were gatekeepers, and 4,000 were praising the LORD with the instruments which David made for giving praise.5Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.5 4,000 are to be gatekeepers, and 4,000 are to praise the LORD with the instruments that I have made for worship."
David separated the Levites into divisions corresponding to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.6And David organized them in divisions corresponding to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.6David divided them into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.6And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.6Then David divided them into divisions according to Levi's sons: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.

Levite Duties Revised

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
These were the descendants of Levi by their families--the heads of families as they were registered under their names and counted individually, that is, the workers twenty years old or more who served in the temple of the LORD.24These were the sons of Levi by their fathers’ houses, the heads of fathers’ houses as they were listed according to the number of the names of the individuals from twenty years old and upward who were to do the work for the service of the house of the LORD.24These were the sons of Levi according to their fathers' households, even the heads of the fathers' households of those of them who were counted, in the number of names by their census, doing the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from twenty years old and upward.24These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.24These were the sons of Levi by their ancestral houses--the heads of families, according to their registration by name in the headcount--20 years old or more, who worked in the service of the LORD's temple.
For David had said, "Since the LORD, the God of Israel, has granted rest to his people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem forever,25For David said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people, and he dwells in Jerusalem forever.25For David said, "The LORD God of Israel has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.25For David said, The LORD God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:25For David said, "The LORD God of Israel has given rest to His people, and He has come to stay in Jerusalem forever.
the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles used in its service."26And so the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the things for its service.”26"Also, the Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all its utensils for its service."26And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.26Also, the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the equipment for its service"--
According to the last instructions of David, the Levites were counted from those twenty years old or more.27For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered from twenty years old and upward.27For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered from twenty years old and upward.27For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:27for according to the last words of David, the Levites 20 years old or more were to be counted--"
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron's descendants in the service of the temple of the LORD: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God.28For their duty was to assist the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, having the care of the courts and the chambers, the cleansing of all that is holy, and any work for the service of the house of God.28For their office is to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts and in the chambers and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God,28Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;28but their duty will be to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the LORD's temple, being responsible for the courts and the chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of God's temple--
They were in charge of the bread set out on the table, the special flour for the grain offerings, the thin loaves made without yeast, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size.29Their duty was also to assist with the showbread, the flour for the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the baked offering, the offering mixed with oil, and all measures of quantity or size.29and with the showbread, and the fine flour for a grain offering, and unleavened wafers, or what is baked in the pan or what is well-mixed, and all measures of volume and size.29Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;29as well as the rows of the bread of the Presence, the fine flour for the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the baking, the mixing, and all measurements of volume and length.
They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD. They were to do the same in the evening30And they were to stand every morning, thanking and praising the LORD, and likewise at evening,30They are to stand every morning to thank and to praise the LORD, and likewise at evening,30And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even;30They are also to stand every morning to give thanks and praise to the LORD, and likewise in the evening.
and whenever burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on the Sabbaths, at the New Moon feasts and at the appointed festivals. They were to serve before the LORD regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them.31and whenever burnt offerings were offered to the LORD on Sabbaths, new moons, and feast days, according to the number required of them, regularly before the LORD.31and to offer all burnt offerings to the LORD, on the sabbaths, the new moons and the fixed festivals in the number set by the ordinance concerning them, continually before the LORD.31And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD:31Whenever burnt offerings are offered to the LORD on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed festivals, they are to do so regularly in the LORD's presence according to the number prescribed for them.
And so the Levites carried out their responsibilities for the tent of meeting, for the Holy Place and, under their relatives the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the temple of the LORD.32Thus they were to keep charge of the tent of meeting and the sanctuary, and to attend the sons of Aaron, their brothers, for the service of the house of the LORD.32Thus they are to keep charge of the tent of meeting, and charge of the holy place, and charge of the sons of Aaron their relatives, for the service of the house of the LORD.32And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the LORD.32They are to carry out their responsibilities for the tent of meeting, for the holy place, and for their relatives, the sons of Aaron, in the service of the LORD's temple."
