הֲלֹֽא־
חָכְמָ֥ה
תִקְרָ֑א
וּ֝תְבוּנָ֗ה
תִּתֵּ֥ן
קוֹלָֽהּ׃
Does not
wisdom
call out,
and understanding
raise
her voice?
Doth not wisdom
cry?
and understanding
put forth
her voice?
2
בְּרֹאשׁ־
מְרוֹמִ֥ים
עֲלֵי־
דָ֑רֶךְ
בֵּ֖ית
נְתִיב֣וֹת
נִצָּֽבָה׃
On the heights
overlooking
the road,
at the crossroads
she takes her stand.
She standeth
in the top
of high places,
by the way
in the places
of the paths.
3
לְיַד־
שְׁעָרִ֥ים
לְפִי־
קָ֑רֶת
מְב֖וֹא
פְתָחִ֣ים
תָּרֹֽנָּה׃
Beside
the gates
to
the city,
at the entrances
she cries out:
She crieth
at
the gates,
at the entry
of the city,
at the coming
in at the doors.
4
אֲלֵיכֶ֣ם
אִישִׁ֣ים
אֶקְרָ֑א
וְ֝קוֹלִ֗י
אֶל־
בְּנֵ֥י
אָדָֽם׃
“To you,
O men,
I call out,
and my cry
is to
the sons
of men.
Unto you, O men,
I call;
and my voice
[is] to the sons
of man.
5
הָבִ֣ינוּ
פְתָאיִ֣ם

וּ֝כְסִילִ֗ים
הָבִ֥ינוּ
לֵֽב׃
O simple ones,
learn
to be shrewd;
O fools,
gain understanding.
O ye simple,
understand
wisdom:
and, ye fools,
be ye of an understanding
heart.
6
שִׁ֭מְעוּ
כִּֽי־
נְגִידִ֣ים
אֲדַבֵּ֑ר
וּמִפְתַּ֥ח
שְׂ֝פָתַ֗י
מֵישָׁרִֽים׃
Listen,
for
I speak
of noble things,
and the opening
of my lips
will reveal right.
Hear;
for I will speak
of excellent things;
and the opening
of my lips
[shall be] right things.
7
כִּֽי־
אֱ֭מֶת
יֶהְגֶּ֣ה
חִכִּ֑י
וְתוֹעֲבַ֖ת
שְׂפָתַ֣י
רֶֽשַׁע׃
For
my mouth
will speak
the truth,
and wickedness
is detestable
to my lips.
For my mouth
shall speak
truth;
and wickedness
[is] an abomination
to my lips.
8
בְּצֶ֥דֶק
כָּל־

All
the words
of my mouth
are righteous;
none
are crooked
or perverse.
All the words
of my mouth
[are] in righteousness;
[there is] nothing froward
or perverse
in them.
9
כֻּלָּ֣ם

They are
all plain
to the discerning,
and upright
to those who find
knowledge.
They [are] all plain
to him that understandeth,
and right
to them that find
knowledge.
10
קְחֽוּ־
מוּסָרִ֥י

מֵחָר֥וּץ
נִבְחָֽר׃
Receive
my instruction
instead of
silver,
and knowledge
rather than pure

Receive
my instruction,
and not silver;
and knowledge
rather than choice
gold.
11
כִּֽי־

For
wisdom
is more precious
than rubies,
and nothing
you desire
compares
with her.
For wisdom
[is] better
than rubies;
and all the things that may be desired
are not to be compared
to it.
12
אֲֽנִי־
חָ֭כְמָה
שָׁכַ֣נְתִּי

I,
wisdom,
dwell together
with prudence,
and I find
knowledge
and discretion.
I wisdom
dwell
with prudence,
and find out
knowledge
of witty inventions.

To fear
the LORD
is to hate
evil;
I hate
arrogant
pride,
evil
conduct,
and perverse
speech.
The fear
of the LORD
[is] to hate
evil:
pride,
and arrogancy,
and the evil
way,
and the froward
mouth,
do I hate.
14
לִֽי־

I

Counsel

I [am] understanding;
I have strength.

By me kings

who govern

By me princes

and nobles,
[even] all the judges
of the earth.
17
אֲ֭נִי

I

those who love me,
and those who seek me early
shall find me.
I love
them that love

shall find
me.
18

Riches

[are] with me; [yea], durable
riches
and righteousness.

pure gold,
and my harvest

My fruit

yea, than fine gold;
and my revenue

in the midst
of the paths
of judgment:

bestowing

and I will fill
their treasures.

I was set up

before
He made

or any
of the dust
of the earth.
While as yet he had not made
the earth,
nor the fields,
nor the highest part
of the dust
of the world.

when He inscribed
a circle
on

When he prepared
the heavens,
I [was] there: when he set

when He marked out
the foundations

When he gave

that the waters

Then I was by him,
