1 A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath day. It is good to praise the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High, It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; A Psalm <i>or</i> Song for the sabbath day. <i>It is a</i> good <i>thing</i> to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: A Psalm, a Song for the Sabbath day. 2 to proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning and Your faithfulness at night to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, To declare Your goodness in the morning And Your faithfulness by night, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,
3 with the ten-stringed harp and the melody of the lyre. to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre. Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. With the ten-stringed lute and with the harp, With resounding music on the lyre. to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.
4 For You, O LORD, have made me glad by Your deeds; I sing for joy at the works of Your hands. For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy. For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. For You, LORD, have made me joyful by what You have done, I will sing for joy over the works of Your hands. For you make me glad by your deeds, LORD; I sing for joy at what your hands have done.
5 How great are Your works, O LORD, how deep are Your thoughts! How great are your works, O LORD! Your thoughts are very deep! O LORD, how great are thy works! <i>and</i> thy thoughts are very deep. How great are Your works, LORD! Your thoughts are very deep. How great are your works, LORD, how profound your thoughts!
6 A senseless man does not know, and a fool does not understand, The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this: A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. A stupid person has no knowledge, Nor does a foolish person understand this: Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand,
7 that though the wicked sprout like grass, and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed. that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever; When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; <i>it is</i> that they shall be destroyed for ever: When the wicked sprouted up like grass And all who did injustice flourished, It <i>was only</i> that they might be destroyed forevermore. that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever.
8 But You, O LORD, are exalted forever! but you, O LORD, are on high forever. But thou, LORD, <i>art most</i> high for evermore. But You, LORD, are on high forever. But you, LORD, are forever exalted.
9 For surely Your enemies, O LORD, surely Your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered. For behold, your enemies, O LORD, for behold, your enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered. For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. For, behold, Your enemies, LORD, For, behold, Your enemies will perish; All who do injustice will be scattered. For surely your enemies, LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.
10 But You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; with fine oil I have been anointed. But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; you have poured over me fresh oil. But my horn shalt thou exalt like <i>the horn of</i> an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil. But You have exalted my horn like <i>that of</i> the wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil. You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me.
11 My eyes see the downfall of my enemies; my ears hear the wailing of my wicked foes. My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants. Mine eye also shall see <i>my desire</i> on mine enemies, <i>and</i> mine ears shall hear <i>my desire</i> of the wicked that rise up against me. And my eye has looked at my enemies, My ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me. My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.
12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. The righteous person will flourish like the palm tree, He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God. 14 In old age they will still bear fruit; healthy and green they will remain, They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; They will still yield fruit in advanced age; They will be full of sap and very green, They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,
15 to proclaim, “The LORD is upright; He is my Rock, and in Him there is no unrighteousness.” to declare that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. To shew that the LORD <i>is</i> upright: <i>he is</i> my rock, and <i>there is</i> no unrighteousness in him. To declare that the LORD is just; <i>He is</i> my rock, and there is no malice in Him. proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”
