Woe to Oppressors

1  ה֧וֹי (Woe to) חֹֽשְׁבֵי־ (those devising) אָ֛וֶן (iniquity),

וּפֹ֥עֲלֵי (and working) רָ֖ע (evil) עַל־ (on) מִשְׁכְּבוֹתָ֑ם (their beds)!

בְּא֤וֹר (In the light), הַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ (of morning) יַעֲשׂ֔וּהָ (they do it)

כִּ֥י (because) יֶשׁ־ (it is) לְאֵ֖ל (in the power) יָדָֽם׃ (of their hand).

2  וְחָמְד֤וּ (And they desire) שָׂדוֹת֙ (fields), וְגָזָ֔לוּ (and seize them);

וּבָתִּ֖ים (and houses), וְנָשָׂ֑אוּ (and they take them);

וְעָֽשְׁקוּ֙ (and they oppress) גֶּ֣בֶר (a man) וּבֵית֔וֹ (and his house)

וְאִ֖ישׁ (a man) וְנַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃פ (and his inheritance).

3  לָכֵ֗ן (Therefore) כֹּ֚ה (thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH); הִנְנִ֥י (Behold, I)

חֹשֵׁ֛ב (am planning) עַל־ (against) הַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֥ה (the family) הַזֹּ֖את (this) רָעָ֑ה (calamity),

אֲ֠שֶׁר (that) לֹֽא־ (not) תָמִ֨ישׁוּ (you⁺ can remove) מִשָּׁ֜ם (from) צַוְּארֹֽתֵיכֶ֗ם (your⁺ necks);

וְלֹ֤א (and not) תֵֽלְכוּ֙ (will you⁺ walk) רוֹמָ֔ה (haughtily),

כִּ֛י (for) עֵ֥ת (a time) רָעָ֖ה (of calamity) הִֽיא׃ (it is).

4  בַּיּ֨וֹם (On the day) הַה֜וּא (that) יִשָּׂ֧א (he will take up) עֲלֵיכֶ֣ם (over you⁺) מָשָׁ֗ל (a taunt)

וְנָהָ֨ה (and will wail) נְהִ֤י (with wailing), נִֽהְיָה֙ (We are) אָמַר֙ (And say),

שָׁד֣וֹד (ruined) נְשַׁדֻּ֔נוּ (and gone to ruin)!

חֵ֥לֶק (The portion) עַמִּ֖י (of my people); יָמִ֑יר (He has changed)

אֵ֚יךְ (how) יָמִ֣ישׁ (He has removed it) לִ֔י (from me)

לְשׁוֹבֵ֥ב (and to a backturner) שָׂדֵ֖ינוּ (our fields) יְחַלֵּֽק׃ (He has divided).

5  לָכֵן֙ (Therefore) לֹֽא־ (no one) יִֽהְיֶ֣ה (will there be) לְךָ֔ (for you) מַשְׁלִ֥יךְ (casting) חֶ֖בֶל (the cord) בְּגוֹרָ֑ל (by lot)

בִּקְהַ֖ל (in the assembly) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

Reproof of False Prophets
(Ezekiel 13:1–16)

6  אַל־ (Do not), תַּטִּ֖פוּ (preach) יַטִּיפ֑וּן (they preach);

לֹֽא־ (Do not) יַטִּ֣פוּ (preach) לָאֵ֔לֶּה (to these things),

לֹ֥א (will not) יִסַּ֖ג (will overtake us) כְּלִמּֽוֹת׃ (disgrace).

7  הֶאָמ֣וּר (Will it be said) בֵּֽית־ (O house) יַעֲקֹ֗ב (of Jacob),

הֲקָצַר֙ (has been shortened)? ר֣וּחַ (The Spirit) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) אִם־ (or)

אֵ֖לֶּה (Are these) מַעֲלָלָ֑יו (His deeds)?

הֲל֤וֹא (Do not) דְבָרַ֨י (My words) יֵיטִ֔יבוּ (bring good)

עִ֖ם (upon) הַיָּשָׁ֥ר (uprightly) הוֹלֵֽךְ׃ (the one walking)?

8  וְאֶתְמ֗וּל (And lately) עַמִּי֙ (My people)

לְאוֹיֵ֣ב (as an enemy); יְקוֹמֵ֔ם (have risen up)

מִמּ֣וּל (opposite) שַׂלְמָ֔ה (the garment) אֶ֖דֶר (the magnificence) תַּפְשִׁט֑וּן (you⁺ strip off)

מֵעֹבְרִ֣ים (from those passing by) בֶּ֔טַח (in security)

שׁוּבֵ֖י (as those returning) מִלְחָמָֽה׃ (from battle).

9  נְשֵׁ֤י (The women) עַמִּי֙ (of My people) תְּגָ֣רְשׁ֔וּן (you⁺ cast out)

מִבֵּ֖ית (from the houses); תַּֽעֲנֻגֶ֑יהָ (of her delight)

מֵעַל֙ (from upon) עֹֽלָלֶ֔יהָ (her children)

תִּקְח֥וּ (you⁺ have taken away) הֲדָרִ֖י (My glory) לְעוֹלָֽם׃ (forever).

10  ק֣וּמוּ (Rise) וּלְכ֔וּ (and depart);

כִּ֥י (for) לֹא־ (not) זֹ֖את (is this) הַמְּנוּחָ֑ה (a resting place);

בַּעֲב֥וּר (because) טָמְאָ֛ה (it is defiled),

תְּחַבֵּ֖ל (it is destroyed) וְחֶ֥בֶל (and destruction) נִמְרָֽץ׃ (is grievous).

11  לוּ־ (If) אִ֞ישׁ (a man) הֹלֵ֥ךְ (should go about in) ר֙וּחַ֙ (the wind)

וָשֶׁ֣קֶר (and falsely) כִּזֵּ֔ב (utter lies),

אַטִּ֣ף (I will preach) לְךָ֔ (to you) לַיַּ֖יִן (of wine) וְלַשֵּׁכָ֑ר (and strong drink);

וְהָיָ֥ה (then he would be) מַטִּ֖יף (the prophet) הָעָ֥ם (the people) הַזֶּֽה׃ (for this).

(Micah 5:7–15)

12  אָסֹ֨ף (Into a gathering) אֶאֱסֹ֜ף (I will gather) יַעֲקֹ֣ב (O Jacob), כֻּלָּ֗ךְ (all of you)

קַבֵּ֤ץ (into an assembly) אֲקַבֵּץ֙ (I will assemble) שְׁאֵרִ֣ית (the remnant) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel);

יַ֥חַד (together) אֲשִׂימֶ֖נּוּ (I will put them) כְּצֹ֣אן (like sheep) בָּצְרָ֑ה (in an enclosure),

כְּעֵ֙דֶר֙ (like a flock) בְּת֣וֹךְ (in the midst) הַדָּֽבְר֔וֹ (of its pasture);

תְּהִימֶ֖נָה (that makes a noise) מֵאָדָֽם׃ (because of man).

13  עָלָ֤ה (Will come up) הַפֹּרֵץ֙ (the one breaking it open) לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם (before them)

פָּֽרְצוּ֙ (they will break out), וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֔רוּ (and will pass through) שַׁ֖עַר (the gate),

וַיֵּ֣צְאוּ (and they will go out) ב֑וֹ (by it)

וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר (and he will pass by) מַלְכָּם֙ (their king) לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם (before them)

וַיהוָ֖ה (and with YHWH) בְּרֹאשָֽׁם׃פ (at their head).
