On the third day, when morning came, there was thunder and lightning. A thick cloud was upon the mountain, with a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp trembled.

From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings, and peals of thunder. Before the throne burned seven torches of fire. This is the sevenfold Spirit of God.
Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it to the earth; and there were peals of thunder, and rumblings, and flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.
The LORD said to Moses, "Behold, I will come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear when I speak with you, and they will always put their trust in you." And Moses relayed the words of the people to the LORD.
and be prepared by the third day, for on the third day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.
"Be prepared for the third day," he said to the people. "Do not draw near to a woman."
Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
All the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain in smoke. And when the people saw this, they trembled and stood at a distance.
And the people stood at a distance as Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.
At that time I was standing between the LORD and you to declare to you the word of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain. And He said:

He parted the heavens and came down with dark clouds beneath His feet.
His lightning illuminates the world; the earth sees and trembles.
The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. His path is in the whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet.
