And when Moses relayed these words to all the Israelites, the people mourned greatly.

When the people heard these bad tidings, they went into mourning, and no one put on any of his jewelry.
So tell them: As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you exactly as I heard you say.
Of those men who had gone to spy out the land, only Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh remained alive.
This is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies. They will turn their backs and run from their enemies, because they have been set apart for destruction. I will no longer be with you unless you remove from among you whatever is devoted to destruction.
