| 1For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Doe of the Dawn.” A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from saving me, so far from my words of groaning? | 1My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away when I groan for help? |
| 2I cry out by day, O my God, but You do not answer, and by night, but I have no rest. | 2Every day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer. Every night I lift my voice, but I find no relief. |

| 30Posterity will serve Him; they will declare the Lord to a new generation. | 30Our children will also serve him. Future generations will hear about the wonders of the Lord. |
| 31They will come and proclaim His righteousness to a people yet unborn—all that He has done. | 31His righteous acts will be told to those not yet born. They will hear about everything he has done. |
