For the choir director: according to Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm. I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and He will hear me. 1For the choirmaster. According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. I cried out to God; I cried aloud to God to hear me.
I sought the Lord in my day of trouble. My hands were continually lifted up all night long; I refused to be comforted. 2In the day of trouble I sought the Lord; through the night my outstretched hands did not grow weary; my soul refused to be comforted.
I think of God; I groan; I meditate; my spirit becomes weak. Selah 3I remembered You, O God, and I groaned; I mused and my spirit grew faint. Selah
You have kept me from closing my eyes; I am troubled and cannot speak. 4You have kept my eyes from closing; I am too troubled to speak.
I consider days of old, years long past. 5I considered the days of old, the years long in the past.
At night I remember my music; I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders." 6At night I remembered my song; in my heart I mused, and my spirit pondered:
Will the Lord reject forever and never again show favor? 7“Will the Lord spurn us forever and never show His favor again?
Has His faithful love ceased forever? Is His promise at an end for all generations? 8Is His loving devotion gone forever? Has His promise failed for all time?
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger withheld His compassion?" Selah 9Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has His anger shut off His compassion?” Selah
So I say, "I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed." 10So I said, “I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed.”
I will remember the LORD's works; yes, I will remember Your ancient wonders. 11I will remember the works of the LORD; yes, I will remember Your wonders of old.
I will reflect on all You have done and meditate on Your actions. 12I will reflect on all You have done and ponder Your mighty deeds.
God, Your way is holy. What god is great like God? 13Your way, O God, is holy. What god is so great as our God?
You are the God who works wonders; You revealed Your strength among the peoples. 14You are the God who works wonders; You display Your strength among the peoples.
With power You redeemed Your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah 15With power You redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah
The waters saw You, God. The waters saw You; they trembled. Even the depths shook. 16The waters saw You, O God; the waters saw You and swirled; even the depths were shaken.
The clouds poured down water. The storm clouds thundered; Your arrows flashed back and forth. 17The clouds poured down water; the skies resounded with thunder; Your arrows flashed back and forth.
The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightning lit up the world. The earth shook and quaked. 18Your thunder resounded in the whirlwind; the lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.
Your way went through the sea and Your path through the great waters, but Your footprints were unseen. 19Your path led through the sea, Your way through the mighty waters, but Your footprints were not to be found.
You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. 20You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
