Holman Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
Now about the collection for the saints: You should do the same as I instructed the Galatian churches. 1Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do.
On the first day of the week, each of you is to set something aside and save in keeping with how he prospers, so that no collections will need to be made when I come.2On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come.
When I arrive, I will send with letters those you recommend to carry your gracious gift to Jerusalem.3And when I arrive, I will send those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to Jerusalem.
If it is suitable for me to go as well, they can travel with me. 4If it seems advisable that I should go also, they will accompany me.
I will come to you after I pass through Macedonia--for I will be traveling through Macedonia--5I will visit you after passing through Macedonia, for I intend to pass through Macedonia,
and perhaps I will remain with you or even spend the winter, so that you may send me on my way wherever I go. 6and perhaps I will stay with you or even spend the winter, so that you may help me on my journey, wherever I go.
I don't want to see you now just in passing, for I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord allows.7For I do not want to see you now just in passing. I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,8But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,
because a wide door for effective ministry has opened for me--yet many oppose me.9for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.
If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear from you, because he is doing the Lord's work, just as I am.10When Timothy comes, see that you put him at ease among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, as I am.
Therefore, no one should look down on him. Send him on his way in peace so he can come to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers. 11So let no one despise him. Help him on his way in peace, that he may return to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers.
About our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to come to you with the brothers, but he was not at all willing to come now. However, he will come when he has an opportunity. 12Now concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to visit you with the other brothers, but it was not at all his will to come now. He will come when he has opportunity.
Be alert, stand firm in the faith, act like a man, be strong. 13Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
Your every action must be done with love. 14Let all that you do be done in love.
Brothers, you know the household of Stephanas: They are the firstfruits of Achaia and have devoted themselves to serving the saints. I urge you15Now I urge you, brothers—you know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints—
also to submit to such people, and to everyone who works and labors with them.16be subject to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer.
I am pleased to have Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus present, because these men have made up for your absence. 17I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence,
For they have refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore recognize such people. 18for they refreshed my spirit as well as yours. Give recognition to such people.
The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, along with the church that meets in their home.19The churches of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Prisca, together with the church in their house, send you hearty greetings in the Lord.
All the brothers greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. 20All the brothers send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
This greeting is in my own hand--Paul. 21I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand.
If anyone does not love the Lord, a curse be on him. Marana tha that is, Lord, come!22If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be accursed. Our Lord, come!
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.23The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus. 24My love be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
