Now about the collection for the saints: You should do the same as I instructed the Galatian churches. 1With regard to the collection for the saints, please follow the directions that I gave to the churches of Galatia:
On the first day of the week, each of you is to set something aside and save in keeping with how he prospers, so that no collections will need to be made when I come.2On the first day of the week, each of you should set aside some income and save it to the extent that God has blessed you, so that a collection will not have to be made when I come.
When I arrive, I will send with letters those you recommend to carry your gracious gift to Jerusalem.3Then, when I arrive, I will send those whom you approve with letters of explanation to carry your gift to Jerusalem.
If it is suitable for me to go as well, they can travel with me. 4And if it seems advisable that I should go also, they will go with me.
I will come to you after I pass through Macedonia--for I will be traveling through Macedonia--5But I will come to you after I have gone through Macedonia--for I will be going through Macedonia--
and perhaps I will remain with you or even spend the winter, so that you may send me on my way wherever I go. 6and perhaps I will stay with you, or even spend the winter, so that you can send me on my journey, wherever I go.
I don't want to see you now just in passing, for I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord allows.7For I do not want to see you now in passing, since I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord allows.
But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,8But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,
because a wide door for effective ministry has opened for me--yet many oppose me.9because a door of great opportunity stands wide open for me, but there are many opponents.
If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear from you, because he is doing the Lord's work, just as I am.10Now if Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear among you, for he is doing the Lord's work, as I am too.
Therefore, no one should look down on him. Send him on his way in peace so he can come to me, for I am expecting him with the brothers. 11So then, let no one treat him with contempt. But send him on his way in peace so that he may come to me. For I am expecting him with the brothers.
About our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to come to you with the brothers, but he was not at all willing to come now. However, he will come when he has an opportunity. 12With regard to our brother Apollos: I strongly encouraged him to visit you with the other brothers, but it was simply not his intention to come now. He will come when he has the opportunity.
Be alert, stand firm in the faith, act like a man, be strong. 13Stay alert, stand firm in the faith, show courage, be strong.
Your every action must be done with love. 14Everything you do should be done in love.
Brothers, you know the household of Stephanas: They are the firstfruits of Achaia and have devoted themselves to serving the saints. I urge you15Now, brothers and sisters, you know about the household of Stephanus, that as the first converts of Achaia, they devoted themselves to ministry for the saints. I urge you
also to submit to such people, and to everyone who works and labors with them.16also to submit to people like this, and to everyone who cooperates in the work and labors hard.
I am pleased to have Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus present, because these men have made up for your absence. 17I was glad about the arrival of Stephanus, Fortunatus, and Achaicus because they have supplied the fellowship with you that I lacked.
For they have refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore recognize such people. 18For they refreshed my spirit and yours. So then, recognize people like this.
The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, along with the church that meets in their home.19The churches in the province of Asia send greetings to you. Aquila and Prisca greet you warmly in the Lord, with the church that meets in their house.
All the brothers greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. 20All the brothers and sisters send greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
This greeting is in my own hand--Paul. 21I, Paul, send this greeting with my own hand.
If anyone does not love the Lord, a curse be on him. Marana tha that is, Lord, come!22Let anyone who has no love for the Lord be accursed. Our Lord, come!
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.23The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus. 24My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus.
