Holman Christian Standard BibleKing James Bible
Hallelujah! Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever. 1Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Who can declare the LORD's mighty acts or proclaim all the praise due Him? 2Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?
How happy are those who uphold justice, who practice righteousness at all times. 3Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
Remember me, LORD, when You show favor to Your people. Come to me with Your salvation 4Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
so that I may enjoy the prosperity of Your chosen ones, rejoice in the joy of Your nation, and boast about Your heritage. 5That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have done wrong and have acted wickedly. 6We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
Our fathers in Egypt did not grasp the significance of Your wonderful works or remember Your many acts of faithful love; instead, they rebelled by the sea--the Red Sea. 7Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.
Yet He saved them because of His name, to make His power known. 8Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; He led them through the depths as through a desert. 9He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
He saved them from the hand of the adversary; He redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. 10And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
Water covered their foes; not one of them remained. 11And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
Then they believed His promises and sang His praise. 12Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
They soon forgot His works and would not wait for His counsel. 13They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
They were seized with craving in the wilderness and tested God in the desert. 14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
He gave them what they asked for, but sent a wasting disease among them. 15And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
In the camp they were envious of Moses and of Aaron, the LORD's holy one. 16They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it covered the assembly of Abiram. 17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
Fire blazed throughout their assembly; flames consumed the wicked. 18And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
At Horeb they made a calf and worshiped the cast metal image. 19They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
They exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating ox. 20Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
They forgot God their Savior, who did great things in Egypt, 21They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
wonderful works in the land of Ham, awe-inspiring acts at the Red Sea. 22Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
So He said He would have destroyed them-- if Moses His chosen one had not stood before Him in the breach to turn His wrath away from destroying them. 23Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
They despised the pleasant land and did not believe His promise. 24Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:
They grumbled in their tents and did not listen to the LORD's voice. 25But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
So He raised His hand against them with an oath that He would make them fall in the desert 26Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:
and would disperse their descendants among the nations, scattering them throughout the lands. 27To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.
They aligned themselves with Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods. 28They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
They provoked the LORD with their deeds, and a plague broke out against them. 29Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stopped. 30Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
It was credited to him as righteousness throughout all generations to come. 31And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
They angered the LORD at the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them; 32They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
for they embittered his spirit, and he spoke rashly with his lips. 33Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them 34They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
but mingled with the nations and adopted their ways. 35But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
They served their idols, which became a snare to them. 36And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons. 37Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
They shed innocent blood-- the blood of their sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; so the land became polluted with blood. 38And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
They defiled themselves by their actions and prostituted themselves by their deeds. 39Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
Therefore the LORD's anger burned against His people, and He abhorred His own inheritance. 40Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
He handed them over to the nations; those who hated them ruled them. 41And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
Their enemies oppressed them, and they were subdued under their power. 42Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
He rescued them many times, but they continued to rebel deliberately and were beaten down by their sin. 43Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
When He heard their cry, He took note of their distress, 44Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
remembered His covenant with them, and relented according to the riches of His faithful love. 45And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
He caused them to be pitied before all their captors. 46He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
Save us, Yahweh our God, and gather us from the nations, so that we may give thanks to Your holy name and rejoice in Your praise. 47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
May Yahweh, the God of Israel, be praised from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!" Hallelujah! 48Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.
