"When you have experienced all these things, both the blessings and the curses I have set before you, you will reflect upon them in all the nations where the LORD your God has banished you.1“When all these things come upon you—the blessings and curses I have set before you—and you call them to mind in all the nations to which the LORD your God has banished you,
Then if you and your descendants turn to the LORD your God and obey him with your whole mind and being just as I am commanding you today,2and when you and your children return to the LORD your God and obey His voice with all your heart and all your soul according to everything I am giving you today,
the LORD your God will reverse your captivity and have pity on you. He will turn and gather you from all the peoples among whom he has scattered you.3then He will restore you from captivity and have compassion on you and gather you from all the nations to which the LORD your God has scattered you.
Even if your exiles are in the most distant land, from there the LORD your God will gather you and bring you back.4Even if you have been banished to the farthest horizon, He will gather you and return you from there.
Then he will bring you to the land your ancestors possessed and you also will possess it; he will do better for you and multiply you more than he did your ancestors.5And the LORD your God will bring you into the land your fathers possessed, and you will take possession of it. He will cause you to prosper and multiply more than your fathers.
The LORD your God will also cleanse your heart and the hearts of your descendants so that you may love him with all your mind and being and so that you may live.6The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, and you will love Him with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.
Then the LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies, on those who hate you and persecute you.7Then the LORD your God will put all these curses upon your enemies who hate you and persecute you.
You will return and obey the LORD, keeping all his commandments I am giving you today.8And you will again obey the voice of the LORD and follow all His commandments I am giving you today.
The LORD your God will make the labor of your hands abundantly successful and multiply your children, the offspring of your cattle, and the produce of your soil. For the LORD your God will once more rejoice over you to make you prosperous just as he rejoiced over your ancestors,9So the LORD your God will make you abound in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your land. Indeed, the LORD will again delight in your goodness, as He delighted in that of your fathers,
if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commandments and statutes that are written in this scroll of the law. But you must turn to him with your whole mind and being. 10if you obey the LORD your God by keeping His commandments and statutes that are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
"This commandment I am giving you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it too remote.11For this commandment I give you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.
It is not in heaven, as though one must say, "Who will go up to heaven to get it for us and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"12It is not in heaven, that you should need to ask, ‘Who will ascend into heaven to get it for us and proclaim it, that we may obey it?’
And it is not across the sea, as though one must say, "Who will cross over to the other side of the sea and get it for us and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"13And it is not beyond the sea, that you should need to ask, ‘Who will cross the sea to get it for us and proclaim it, that we may obey it?’
For the thing is very near you--it is in your mouth and in your mind so that you can do it. 14But the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may obey it.
"Look! I have set before you today life and prosperity on the one hand, and death and disaster on the other.15See, I have set before you today life and goodness, as well as death and disaster.
What I am commanding you today is to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to obey his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances. Then you will live and become numerous and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you are about to possess.16For I am commanding you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, statutes, and ordinances, so that you may live and increase, and the LORD your God may bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.
However, if you turn aside and do not obey, but are lured away to worship and serve other gods,17But if your heart turns away and you do not listen, but are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,
I declare to you this very day that you will certainly perish! You will not extend your time in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.18I declare to you today that you will surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
Today I invoke heaven and earth as a witness against you that I have set life and death, blessing and curse, before you. Therefore choose life so that you and your descendants may live!19I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, so that you and your descendants may live,
I also call on you to love the LORD your God, to obey him and be loyal to him, for he gives you life and enables you to live continually in the land the LORD promised to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." 20and that you may love the LORD your God, obey Him, and hold fast to Him. For He is your life, and He will prolong your life in the land that the LORD swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
