NET BibleNew International Version
"You must not give a false report. Do not make common cause with the wicked to be a malicious witness. 1"Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness.
"You must not follow a crowd in doing evil things; in a lawsuit you must not offer testimony that agrees with a crowd so as to pervert justice,2"Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd,
and you must not show partiality to a poor man in his lawsuit. 3and do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit.
"If you encounter your enemy's ox or donkey wandering off, you must by all means return it to him.4"If you come across your enemy's ox or donkey wandering off, be sure to return it.
If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen under its load, you must not ignore him, but be sure to help him with it. 5If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help them with it.
"You must not turn away justice for your poor people in their lawsuits.6"Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits.
Keep your distance from a false charge--do not kill the innocent and the righteous, for I will not justify the wicked. 7Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty.
"You must not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and subverts the words of the righteous. 8"Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the innocent.
"You must not oppress a foreigner, since you know the life of a foreigner, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. 9"Do not oppress a foreigner; you yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt.
"For six years you are to sow your land and gather in its produce.10"For six years you are to sow your fields and harvest the crops,
But in the seventh year you must let it lie fallow and leave it alone so that the poor of your people may eat, and what they leave any animal in the field may eat; you must do likewise with your vineyard and your olive grove.11but during the seventh year let the land lie unplowed and unused. Then the poor among your people may get food from it, and the wild animals may eat what is left. Do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove.
For six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you must cease, in order that your ox and your donkey may rest and that your female servant's son and any hired help may refresh themselves. 12"Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed.
"Pay attention to do everything I have told you, and do not even mention the names of other gods--do not let them be heard on your lips. 13"Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.
"Three times in the year you must make a pilgrim feast to me.14"Three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me.
You are to observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread; seven days you must eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you, at the appointed time of the month of Abib, for at that time you came out of Egypt. No one may appear before me empty-handed. 15"Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread; for seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you came out of Egypt. "No one is to appear before me empty-handed.
"You are also to observe the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors that you have sown in the field, and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year when you have gathered in your harvest out of the field.16"Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field. "Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field.
At three times in the year all your males will appear before the Lord GOD. 17"Three times a year all the men are to appear before the Sovereign LORD.
"You must not offer the blood of my sacrifice with bread containing yeast; the fat of my festal sacrifice must not remain until morning.18"Do not offer the blood of a sacrifice to me along with anything containing yeast. "The fat of my festival offerings must not be kept until morning.
The first of the firstfruits of your soil you must bring to the house of the LORD your God. "You must not cook a young goat in its mother's milk. 19"Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God. "Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk.
"I am going to send an angel before you to protect you as you journey and to bring you into the place that I have prepared.20"See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.
Take heed because of him, and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgressions, for my name is in him.21Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.
But if you diligently obey him and do all that I command, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and I will be an adversary to your adversaries.22If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.
For my angel will go before you and bring you to the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, and I will destroy them completely. 23My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out.
"You must not bow down to their gods; you must not serve them or do according to their practices. Instead you must completely overthrow them and smash their standing stones to pieces.24Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices. You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces.
You must serve the LORD your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will remove sickness from your midst.25Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you,
No woman will miscarry her young or be barren in your land. I will fulfill the number of your days. 26and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span.
"I will send my terror before you, and I will destroy all the people whom you encounter; I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.27"I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run.
I will send hornets before you that will drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite before you.28I will send the hornet ahead of you to drive the Hivites, Canaanites and Hittites out of your way.
I will not drive them out before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the wild animals multiply against you.29But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals too numerous for you.
Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you become fruitful and inherit the land.30Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land.
I will set your boundaries from the Red Sea to the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the River, for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you will drive them out before you. 31"I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the desert to the Euphrates River. I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out before you.
"You must make no covenant with them or with their gods.32Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods.
They must not live in your land, lest they make you sin against me, for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you." 33Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you."
