Psalm 77
NKJV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew International Version
To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. I cried out to God with my voice— To God with my voice; And He gave ear to me.1For the director of music. For Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm. I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; My hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing; My soul refused to be comforted.2When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; at night I stretched out untiring hands, and I would not be comforted.
I remembered God, and was troubled; I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah3I remembered you, God, and I groaned; I meditated, and my spirit grew faint.
You hold my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak.4You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak.
I have considered the days of old, The years of ancient times.5I thought about the former days, the years of long ago;
I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, And my spirit makes diligent search.6I remembered my songs in the night. My heart meditated and my spirit asked:
Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favorable no more?7"Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favor again?
Has His mercy ceased forever? Has His promise failed forevermore?8Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time?
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? Selah9Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?"
And I said, “This is my anguish; But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.”10Then I thought, "To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.
I will remember the works of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.11I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds.12I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds."
Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary; Who is so great a God as our God?13Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God?
You are the God who does wonders; You have declared Your strength among the peoples.14You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.
You have with Your arm redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah15With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were afraid; The depths also trembled.16The waters saw you, God, the waters saw you and writhed; the very depths were convulsed.
The clouds poured out water; The skies sent out a sound; Your arrows also flashed about.17The clouds poured down water, the heavens resounded with thunder; your arrows flashed back and forth.
The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook.18Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind, your lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.
Your way was in the sea, Your path in the great waters, And Your footsteps were not known.19Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.
You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron.20You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
