Psalm 86
New Living TranslationChristian Standard Bible
Bend down, O LORD, and hear my prayer; answer me, for I need your help.1Listen, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you. Save me, for I serve you and trust you. You are my God.2Protect my life, for I am faithful. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.
Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly.3Be gracious to me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.
Give me happiness, O Lord, for I give myself to you.4Bring joy to your servant's life, because I appeal to you, Lord.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.5For you, Lord, are kind and ready to forgive, abounding in faithful love to all who call on you.
Listen closely to my prayer, O LORD; hear my urgent cry.6LORD, hear my prayer; listen to my plea for mercy.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble, and you will answer me.7I call on you in the day of my distress, for you will answer me.
No pagan god is like you, O Lord. None can do what you do!8Lord, there is no one like you among the gods, and there are no works like yours.
All the nations you made will come and bow before you, Lord; they will praise your holy name.9All the nations you have made will come and bow down before you, Lord, and will honor your name.
For you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God.10For you are great and perform wonders; you alone are God.
Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.11Teach me your way, LORD, and I will live by your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear your name.
With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever,12I will praise you with all my heart, Lord my God, and will honor your name forever.
for your love for me is very great. You have rescued me from the depths of death.13For your faithful love for me is great, and you rescue my life from the depths of Sheol.
O God, insolent people rise up against me; a violent gang is trying to kill me. You mean nothing to them.14God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men intends to kill me. They do not let you guide them.
But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.15But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth.
Look down and have mercy on me. Give your strength to your servant; save me, the son of your servant.16Turn to me and be gracious to me. Give your strength to your servant; save the son of your female servant.
Send me a sign of your favor. Then those who hate me will be put to shame, for you, O LORD, help and comfort me.17Show me a sign of your goodness; my enemies will see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped and comforted me.
