These are the terms of the covenant the LORD commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in Moab, in addition to the covenant he had made with them at Horeb.1These are the words of the covenant that the LORD commanded Moses to make with the people of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant that he had made with them at Horeb.1These are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the sons of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which He had made with them at Horeb.1These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.1These are the words of the covenant the LORD commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in the land of Moab, in addition to the covenant He had made with them at Horeb.
Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them: Your eyes have seen all that the LORD did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials and to all his land.2And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them: “You have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land,2And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, "You have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh and all his servants and all his land;2And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;2Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, "You have seen with your own eyes everything the LORD did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials, and to his entire land.
With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those signs and great wonders.3the great trials that your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders.3the great trials which your eyes have seen, those great signs and wonders.3The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:3You saw with your own eyes the great trials and those great signs and wonders.
But to this day the LORD has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear.4But to this day the LORD has not given you a heart to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear.4"Yet to this day the LORD has not given you a heart to know, nor eyes to see, nor ears to hear.4Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.4Yet to this day the LORD has not given you a mind to understand, eyes to see, or ears to hear.

Yet the LORD says, "During the forty years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.5I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn off your feet.5"I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandal has not worn out on your foot.5And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.5I led you 40 years in the wilderness; your clothes and the sandals on your feet did not wear out;
You ate no bread and drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know that I am the LORD your God."6You have not eaten bread, and you have not drunk wine or strong drink, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.6"You have not eaten bread, nor have you drunk wine or strong drink, in order that you might know that I am the LORD your God.6Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.6you did not eat bread or drink wine or beer--so that you might know that I am Yahweh your God.
When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out to fight against us, but we defeated them.7And when you came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out against us to battle, but we defeated them.7"When you reached this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out to meet us for battle, but we defeated them;7And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:7When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out against us in battle, but we defeated them.
We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh.8We took their land and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manassites.8and we took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manassites.8And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.8We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh.
Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do.9Therefore keep the words of this covenant and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.9"So keep the words of this covenant to do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.9Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.9Therefore, observe the words of this covenant and follow them, so that you will succeed in everything you do."

All of you are standing today in the presence of the LORD your God--your leaders and chief men, your elders and officials, and all the other men of Israel,10“You are standing today, all of you, before the LORD your God: the heads of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, all the men of Israel,10"You stand today, all of you, before the LORD your God: your chiefs, your tribes, your elders and your officers, even all the men of Israel,10Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,10All of you are standing today before the LORD your God--your leaders, tribes, elders, officials, all the men of Israel,
together with your children and your wives, and the foreigners living in your camps who chop your wood and carry your water.11your little ones, your wives, and the sojourner who is in your camp, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water,11your little ones, your wives, and the alien who is within your camps, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water,11Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:11your children, your wives, and the foreigners in your camps who cut your wood and draw your water--
You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the LORD your God, a covenant the LORD is making with you this day and sealing with an oath,12so that you may enter into the sworn covenant of the LORD your God, which the LORD your God is making with you today,12that you may enter into the covenant with the LORD your God, and into His oath which the LORD your God is making with you today,12That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:12so that you may enter into the covenant of the LORD your God, which He is making with you today, so that you may enter into His oath
to confirm you this day as his people, that he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.13that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he promised you, and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.13in order that He may establish you today as His people and that He may be your God, just as He spoke to you and as He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.13That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.13and so that He may establish you today as His people and He may be your God as He promised you and as He swore to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
I am making this covenant, with its oath, not only with you14It is not with you alone that I am making this sworn covenant,14"Now not with you alone am I making this covenant and this oath,14Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;14I am making this covenant and this oath not only with you,

who are standing here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God but also with those who are not here today.15but with whoever is standing here with us today before the LORD our God, and with whoever is not here with us today.15but both with those who stand here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God and with those who are not with us here today15But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:15but also with those who are standing here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God and with those who are not here today."
You yourselves know how we lived in Egypt and how we passed through the countries on the way here.16“You know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed.16(for you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed;16(For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;16Indeed, you know how we lived in the land of Egypt and passed through the nations where you traveled.
You saw among them their detestable images and idols of wood and stone, of silver and gold.17And you have seen their detestable things, their idols of wood and stone, of silver and gold, which were among them.17moreover, you have seen their abominations and their idols of wood, stone, silver, and gold, which they had with them);17And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)17You saw their detestable images and idols made of wood, stone, silver, and gold, which were among them.
Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.18Beware lest there be among you a man or woman or clan or tribe whose heart is turning away today from the LORD our God to go and serve the gods of those nations. Beware lest there be among you a root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit,18so that there will not be among you a man or woman, or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of those nations; that there will not be among you a root bearing poisonous fruit and wormwood.18Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;18Be sure there is no man, woman, clan, or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations. Be sure there is no root among you bearing poisonous and bitter fruit.
When such a person hears the words of this oath and they invoke a blessing on themselves, thinking, "I will be safe, even though I persist in going my own way," they will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry.19one who, when he hears the words of this sworn covenant, blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall be safe, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.’ This will lead to the sweeping away of moist and dry alike.19"It shall be when he hears the words of this curse, that he will boast, saying, 'I have peace though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart in order to destroy the watered land with the dry.'19And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:19When someone hears the words of this oath, he may consider himself exempt, thinking, 'I will have peace even though I follow my own stubborn heart.' This will lead to the destruction of the well-watered land as well as the dry land.

The LORD will never be willing to forgive them; his wrath and zeal will burn against them. All the curses written in this book will fall on them, and the LORD will blot out their names from under heaven.20The LORD will not be willing to forgive him, but rather the anger of the LORD and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and the curses written in this book will settle upon him, and the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven.20"The LORD shall never be willing to forgive him, but rather the anger of the LORD and His jealousy will burn against that man, and every curse which is written in this book will rest on him, and the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven.20The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.20The LORD will not be willing to forgive him. Instead, His anger and jealousy will burn against that person, and every curse written in this scroll will descend on him. The LORD will blot out his name under heaven,
The LORD will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.21And the LORD will single him out from all the tribes of Israel for calamity, in accordance with all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.21"Then the LORD will single him out for adversity from all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant which are written in this book of the law.21And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:21and single him out for harm from all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this book of the law."
Your children who follow you in later generations and foreigners who come from distant lands will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the LORD has afflicted it.22And the next generation, your children who rise up after you, and the foreigner who comes from a far land, will say, when they see the afflictions of that land and the sicknesses with which the LORD has made it sick—22"Now the generation to come, your sons who rise up after you and the foreigner who comes from a distant land, when they see the plagues of the land and the diseases with which the LORD has afflicted it, will say,22So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;22Future generations of your children who follow you and the foreigner who comes from a distant country will see the plagues of the land and the sicknesses the LORD has inflicted on it.
The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur--nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, which the LORD overthrew in fierce anger.23the whole land burned out with brimstone and salt, nothing sown and nothing growing, where no plant can sprout, an overthrow like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger and wrath—23'All its land is brimstone and salt, a burning waste, unsown and unproductive, and no grass grows in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in His anger and in His wrath.'23And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:23All its soil will be a burning waste of sulfur and salt, unsown, producing nothing, with no plant growing on it, just like the fall of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD demolished in His fierce anger.
All the nations will ask: "Why has the LORD done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?"24all the nations will say, ‘Why has the LORD done thus to this land? What caused the heat of this great anger?’24"All the nations will say, 'Why has the LORD done thus to this land? Why this great outburst of anger?'24Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?24All the nations will ask, 'Why has the LORD done this to this land? Why this great outburst of anger?'

And the answer will be: "It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt.25Then people will say, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt,25"Then men will say, 'Because they forsook the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.25Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:25Then people will answer, 'It is because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh, the God of their fathers, which He had made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.
They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them.26and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods whom they had not known and whom he had not allotted to them.26'They went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods whom they have not known and whom He had not allotted to them.26For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:26They began to worship other gods, bowing down to gods they had not known--gods that the LORD had not permitted them to worship.
Therefore the LORD's anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book.27Therefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, bringing upon it all the curses written in this book,27'Therefore, the anger of the LORD burned against that land, to bring upon it every curse which is written in this book;27And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:27Therefore the LORD's anger burned against this land, and He brought every curse written in this book on it.
In furious anger and in great wrath the LORD uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now."28and the LORD uprooted them from their land in anger and fury and great wrath, and cast them into another land, as they are this day.’28and the LORD uprooted them from their land in anger and in fury and in great wrath, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.'28And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.28The LORD uprooted them from their land in His anger, rage, and great wrath, and threw them into another land where they are today.'
The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.29“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.29"The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.29The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.29The hidden things belong to the LORD our God, but the revealed things belong to us and our children forever, so that we may follow all the words of this law."
