1 Some time later, the king’s cupbearer and baker offended their master, the king of Egypt. Some time after this, the cupbearer of the king of Egypt and his baker committed an offense against their lord the king of Egypt. And it came to pass after these things, <i>that</i> the butler of the king of Egypt and <i>his</i> baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt. Then it came about after these things, <i>that</i> the cupbearer and the baker for the king of Egypt offended their lord, the king of Egypt. Some time later, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt offended their master, the king of Egypt.
2 Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker, And Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker, And Pharaoh was wroth against two <i>of</i> his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers. 3 and imprisoned them in the house of the captain of the guard, the same prison where Joseph was confined. and he put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison where Joseph was confined. And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph <i>was</i> bound. So he put them in confinement in the house of the captain of the bodyguard, in the prison, the <i>same</i> place where Joseph was imprisoned. and put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the same prison where Joseph was confined.
4 The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he became their personal attendant. After they had been in custody for some time, The captain of the guard appointed Joseph to be with them, and he attended them. They continued for some time in custody. And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward. And the captain of the bodyguard put Joseph in charge of them, and he took care of them; and they were in confinement for some time. The captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, and he attended them. After they had been in custody for some time,
5 both of these men— the Egyptian king’s cupbearer and baker, who were being held in the prison — had a dream on the same night, and each dream had its own meaning. And one night they both dreamed—the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison—each his own dream, and each dream with its own interpretation. And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which <i>were</i> bound in the prison. Then the cupbearer and the baker for the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison, both had a dream the same night, each man with his <i>own</i> dream <i>and</i> each dream with its <i>own</i> interpretation. each of the two men—the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were being held in prison—had a dream the same night, and each dream had a meaning of its own.
6 When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were distraught. When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were troubled. 8 “We both had dreams,” they replied, “but there is no one to interpret them.” Then Joseph said to them, “Don’t interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams.” They said to him, “We have had dreams, and there is no one to interpret them.” And Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Please tell them to me.” And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and <i>there is</i> no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, <i>Do</i> not interpretations <i>belong</i> to God? tell me <i>them</i>, I pray you. And they said to him, “We have had a dream, and there is no one to interpret it.” Then Joseph said to them, “Do interpretations not belong to God? Tell <i>it</i> to me, please.” “We both had dreams,” they answered, “but there is no one to interpret them.” Then Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams.”
9 So the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream: “In my dream there was a vine before me, So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph and said to him, “In my dream there was a vine before me, And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine <i>was</i> before me; So the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph, saying to him, “In my dream, behold, <i>there was</i> a vine in front of me; So the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream. He said to him, “In my dream I saw a vine in front of me,
10 and on the vine were three branches. As it budded, its blossoms opened and its clusters ripened into grapes. and on the vine there were three branches. As soon as it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and the clusters ripened into grapes. And in the vine <i>were</i> three branches: and it <i>was</i> as though it budded, <i>and</i> her blossoms shot forth; and the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes: and on the vine <i>were</i> three branches. And as it was budding, its blossoms came out, <i>and</i> its clusters produced ripe grapes. and on the vine were three branches. As soon as it budded, it blossomed, and its clusters ripened into grapes.
11 Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, squeezed them into his cup, and placed the cup in his hand.” Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.” And Pharaoh's cup <i>was</i> in my hand: and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand. Now Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand; so I took the grapes and squeezed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I put the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.” Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, squeezed them into Pharaoh’s cup and put the cup in his hand.”
12 Joseph replied, “This is the interpretation: The three branches are three days. Then Joseph said to him, “This is its interpretation: the three branches are three days. And Joseph said unto him, This <i>is</i> the interpretation of it: The three branches <i>are</i> three days: Then Joseph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days; “This is what it means,” Joseph said to him. “The three branches are three days.
13 Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore your position. You will put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand, just as you did when you were his cupbearer. In three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office, and you shall place Pharaoh’s cup in his hand as formerly, when you were his cupbearer. Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler. within three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your office; and you will put Pharaoh’s cup into his hand as in your former practice when you were his cupbearer. Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your position, and you will put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand, just as you used to do when you were his cupbearer.
14 But when it goes well for you, please remember me and show me kindness by mentioning me to Pharaoh, that he might bring me out of this prison. Only remember me, when it is well with you, and please do me the kindness to mention me to Pharaoh, and so get me out of this house. But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house: Only keep me in mind when it goes well for you, and please do me a kindness by mentioning me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this prison. But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness; mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison.
15 For I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing for which they should have put me in this dungeon.” For I was indeed stolen out of the land of the Hebrews, and here also I have done nothing that they should put me into the pit.” For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon. For I was in fact kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing that they should have put me into the dungeon.” I was forcibly carried off from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing to deserve being put in a dungeon.”
16 When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph, “I too had a dream: There were three baskets of white bread on my head. When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was favorable, he said to Joseph, “I also had a dream: there were three cake baskets on my head, When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also <i>was</i> in my dream, and, behold, <i>I had</i> three white baskets on my head: When the chief baker saw that he had interpreted favorably, he said to Joseph, “I also <i>saw</i> in my dream, and behold, <i>there were</i> three baskets of white bread on my head; When the chief baker saw that Joseph had given a favorable interpretation, he said to Joseph, “I too had a dream: On my head were three baskets of bread.
17 In the top basket were all sorts of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head.” and in the uppermost basket there were all sorts of baked food for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating it out of the basket on my head.” And in the uppermost basket <i>there was</i> of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head. and in the top basket <i>there were</i> some of all kinds of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head.” In the top basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head.”
18 Joseph replied, “This is the interpretation: The three baskets are three days. And Joseph answered and said, “This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days. And Joseph answered and said, This <i>is</i> the interpretation thereof: The three baskets <i>are</i> three days: Then Joseph answered and said, “This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days; “This is what it means,” Joseph said. “The three baskets are three days.
19 Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head and hang you on a tree. Then the birds will eat the flesh of your body.” In three days Pharaoh will lift up your head—from you!—and hang you on a tree. And the birds will eat the flesh from you.” Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee. within three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head from you and will hang you on a wooden <i>post,</i> and the birds will eat your flesh off you.” Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head and impale your body on a pole. And the birds will eat away your flesh.”
20 On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he held a feast for all his officials, and in their presence he lifted up the heads of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker. On the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, he made a feast for all his servants and lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants. And it came to pass the third day, <i>which was</i> Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants. So it came about on the third day, <i>which was</i> Pharaoh’s birthday, that he held a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants. Now the third day was Pharaoh’s birthday, and he gave a feast for all his officials. He lifted up the heads of the chief cupbearer and the chief baker in the presence of his officials:
21 Pharaoh restored the chief cupbearer to his position, so that he once again placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand. He restored the chief cupbearer to his position, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand. And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand: He restored the chief cupbearer to his office, and he put the cup into Pharaoh’s hand; He restored the chief cupbearer to his position, so that he once again put the cup into Pharaoh’s hand—
22 But Pharaoh hanged the chief baker, just as Joseph had described to them in his interpretation. But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them. But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them. but he hanged the chief baker, just as Joseph had interpreted to them. but he impaled the chief baker, just as Joseph had said to them in his interpretation.
23 The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot all about him. Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him. Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him. Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph, but forgot him. The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.
