“Listen to this, O house of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel, who have descended from the line of Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD, who invoke the God of Israel— but not in truth or righteousness— Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and who came from the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD and confess the God of Israel, but not in truth or right. Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness. “Hear this, house of Jacob, who are named Israel And who came from the waters of Judah, Who swear by the name of the LORD And invoke the God of Israel, But not in truth nor in righteousness. “Listen to this, you descendants of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel and come from the line of Judah, you who take oaths in the name of the LORD and invoke the God of Israel— but not in truth or righteousness—
who indeed call yourselves after the holy city and lean on the God of Israel; the LORD of Hosts is His name. For they call themselves after the holy city, and stay themselves on the God of Israel; the LORD of hosts is his name. For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name. “For they name themselves after the holy city, And lean on the God of Israel; The LORD of armies is His name. you who call yourselves citizens of the holy city and claim to rely on the God of Israel— the LORD Almighty is his name:
I foretold the former things long ago; they came out of My mouth and I proclaimed them. Suddenly I acted, and they came to pass. “The former things I declared of old; they went out from my mouth, and I announced them; then suddenly I did them, and they came to pass. I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass. “I declared the former things long ago, And they went out of My mouth, and I proclaimed them. Suddenly I acted, and they came to pass. I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.
For I knew that you are stubborn; your neck is iron and your forehead is bronze. Because I know that you are obstinate, and your neck is an iron sinew and your forehead brass, Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; “Because I know that you are obstinate, And your neck is an iron tendon And your forehead bronze, For I knew how stubborn you were; your neck muscles were iron, your forehead was bronze.
Therefore I declared it to you long ago; I announced it before it came to pass, so that you could not claim, ‘My idol has done this; my carved image and molten god has ordained it.’ I declared them to you from of old, before they came to pass I announced them to you, lest you should say, ‘My idol did them, my carved image and my metal image commanded them.’ I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them. Therefore I declared them to you long ago, Before they took place I proclaimed them to you, So that you would not say, ‘My idol has done them, And my carved image and my cast metal image have commanded them.’ Therefore I told you these things long ago; before they happened I announced them to you so that you could not say, ‘My images brought them about; my wooden image and metal god ordained them.’
You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not acknowledge them? From now on I will tell you of new things, hidden things unknown to you. “You have heard; now see all this; and will you not declare it? From this time forth I announce to you new things, hidden things that you have not known. Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them. “You have heard; look at all this. And you, will you not declare it? I proclaim to you new things from this time, Hidden things which you have not known. You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit them? “From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you.
They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today. So you cannot claim, ‘I already knew them!’ They are created now, not long ago; before today you have never heard of them, lest you should say, ‘Behold, I knew them.’ They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them. “They are created now and not long ago; And before today you have not heard them, So that you will not say, ‘Behold, I knew them.’ They are created now, and not long ago; you have not heard of them before today. So you cannot say, ‘Yes, I knew of them.’
You have never heard; you have never understood; for a long time your ears have not been open. For I knew how deceitful you are; you have been called a rebel from birth. You have never heard, you have never known, from of old your ear has not been opened. For I knew that you would surely deal treacherously, and that from before birth you were called a rebel. Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb. “You have not heard, you have not known. Even from long ago your ear has not been open, Because I knew that you would deal very treacherously; And you have been called a rebel from birth. You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ears have not been open. Well do I know how treacherous you are; you were called a rebel from birth.
For the sake of My name I will delay My wrath; for the sake of My praise I will restrain it, so that you will not be cut off. “For my name’s sake I defer my anger; for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off. For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. “For the sake of My name I delay My wrath, And for My praise I restrain it for you, In order not to cut you off. For my own name’s sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you, so as not to destroy you completely.
See, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction. Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. “Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.
For My own sake, My very own sake, I will act; for how can I let Myself be defamed? I will not yield My glory to another. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another. For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another. “For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; For how can My name be profaned? And I will not give My glory to another. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another.
Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I have called: I am He; I am the first, and I am the last. “Listen to me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I called! I am he; I am the first, and I am the last. Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. “Listen to Me, Jacob, Israel whom I called; I am He, I am the first, I am also the last. “Listen to me, Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am the first and I am the last.
Surely My own hand founded the earth, and My right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they stand up together. My hand laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I call to them, they stand forth together. Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together. “Assuredly My hand founded the earth, And My right hand spread out the heavens; When I call to them, they stand together. My own hand laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens; when I summon them, they all stand up together.
Come together, all of you, and listen: Which of the idols has foretold these things? The LORD’s chosen ally will carry out His desire against Babylon, and His arm will be against the Chaldeans. “Assemble, all of you, and listen! Who among them has declared these things? The LORD loves him; he shall perform his purpose on Babylon, and his arm shall be against the Chaldeans. All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans. “Assemble, all of you, and listen! Who among them has declared these things? The LORD loves him; he will carry out His good pleasure against Babylon, And His arm will be against the Chaldeans. “Come together, all of you, and listen: Which of the idols has foretold these things? The LORD’s chosen ally will carry out his purpose against Babylon; his arm will be against the Babylonians.
I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him. I have brought him, and he will succeed in his mission. I, even I, have spoken and called him; I have brought him, and he will prosper in his way. I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous. “I, yes I, have spoken; indeed I have called him, I have brought him, and He will make his ways successful. I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him. I will bring him, and he will succeed in his mission.
Come near to Me and listen to this: From the beginning I have not spoken in secret; from the time it happened, I was there.” And now the Lord GOD has sent me, accompanied by His Spirit. Draw near to me, hear this: from the beginning I have not spoken in secret, from the time it came to be I have been there.” And now the Lord GOD has sent me, and his Spirit. Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me. “Come near to Me, listen to this: From the beginning I have not spoken in secret, From the time it took place, I was there. And now the Lord GOD has sent Me, and His Spirit.” “Come near me and listen to this: “From the first announcement I have not spoken in secret; at the time it happens, I am there.” And now the Sovereign LORD has sent me, endowed with his Spirit.
Thus says the LORD your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you for your benefit, who directs you in the way you should go. Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go. Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. This is what the LORD says, He who is your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to benefit, Who leads you in the way you should go. This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
If only you had paid attention to My commandments, your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like waves of the sea. Oh that you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea; O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea: “If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea. If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your well-being like the waves of the sea.
Your descendants would have been as countless as the sand, and your offspring as numerous as its grains; their name would never be cut off or eliminated from My presence.” your offspring would have been like the sand, and your descendants like its grains; their name would never be cut off or destroyed from before me.” Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me. “Your descendants would have been like the sand, And your offspring like its grains; Their name would never be eliminated or destroyed from My presence.” Your descendants would have been like the sand, your children like its numberless grains; their name would never be blotted out nor destroyed from before me.”
Leave Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! Declare it with a shout of joy, proclaim it, let it go out to the ends of the earth, saying, “The LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob!” Go out from Babylon, flee from Chaldea, declare this with a shout of joy, proclaim it, send it out to the end of the earth; say, “The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob!” Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob. Go out from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! Declare with the sound of joyful shouting, proclaim this, Send it out to the end of the earth; Say, “The LORD has redeemed His servant Jacob.” Leave Babylon, flee from the Babylonians! Announce this with shouts of joy and proclaim it. Send it out to the ends of the earth; say, “The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob.”
They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; He made water flow for them from the rock; He split the rock, and water gushed out. They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he split the rock and the water gushed out. And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out. They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts. He made the water flow out of the rock for them; He split the rock and the water gushed out. They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he split the rock and water gushed out.
“There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.” “There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.” There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked. “There is no peace for the wicked,” says the LORD. “There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.”
