If you will indeed stay in this land, then I will build you up and not tear you down; I will plant you and not uproot you, for I shall relent of the disaster I have brought upon you.

I will restore Judah and Israel from captivity and will rebuild them as in former times.
So Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the forces disobeyed the command of the LORD to stay in the land of Judah.
Then the nations around you that remain will know that I, the LORD, have rebuilt what was destroyed, and I have replanted what was desolate. I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it.'
How can I give you up, O Ephraim? How can I surrender you, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within Me; My compassion is stirred!
So rend your hearts and not your garments, and return to the LORD your God. For He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in loving devotion. And He relents from sending disaster.
So the LORD relented from this plan. "It will not happen," He said.
So the LORD relented from this plan. "It will not happen either," said the Lord GOD.
When God saw their actions--that they had turned from their evil ways--He relented from the disaster He had threatened to bring upon them.
So he prayed to the LORD, saying, "O LORD, is this not what I said while I was still in my own country? This is why I was so quick to flee toward Tarshish. I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger, abounding in loving devotion--One who relents from sending disaster.
