The LORD spoke to Moses: 1The LORD spoke to Moses: "
"On the first day of the first month you are to set up the tent of the Tent of Meeting. 2You are to set up the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, on the first day of the first month.
You are to put the Ark of the Testimony there, and screen off the ark with the curtain. 3Put the ark of the testimony there and screen off the ark with the veil.
You are to bring in the table and properly arrange what goes on it. Then you are to bring in the lamp stand and set up its lamps.4Then bring in the table and lay out its arrangement; also bring in the lampstand and set up its lamps.
"You are to put the golden altar for incense in front of the Ark of the Testimony and then set up the screen for the doorway to the tent. 5Place the gold altar for incense in front of the ark of the testimony. Put up the screen for the entrance to the tabernacle.
You are to put the altar for burnt offerings in front of the doorway of the tent of the Tent of Meeting. 6Position the altar of burnt offering in front of the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting.
You are to put the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar and put water in it.7Place the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.
You are to set up the court all around, and hang up the screen for the gate of the court. 8Assemble the surrounding courtyard and hang the screen for the gate of the courtyard."
You are to take the anointing oil and anoint the tent and all that is in it. You are to consecrate it and all its furnishings and it will be holy.9Take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and everything in it; consecrate it along with all its furnishings so that it will be holy.
"You are to anoint the altar for burnt offerings and all its utensils. You are to consecrate the altar and the altar will be most holy. 10Anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils; consecrate the altar so that it will be especially holy.
You are to anoint the basin and its base and consecrate it. 11Anoint the basin and its stand and consecrate it."
Then you are to bring Aaron and his sons to the doorway of the Tent of Meeting, and wash them with water. 12Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water.
You are to clothe Aaron with the holy garments, you are to anoint him, and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest. 13Clothe Aaron with the holy garments, anoint him, and consecrate him, so that he can serve Me as a priest.
You are to bring his sons and clothe them with tunics. 14Have his sons come forward and clothe them in tunics.
You are to anoint them just as you anointed their father so they may serve me as priests. Their anointing is to qualify them to belong to a perpetual priesthood from generation to generation."15Anoint them just as you anointed their father, so that they may also serve Me as priests. Their anointing will serve to inaugurate a permanent priesthood for them throughout their generations."
Moses did everything that the LORD had commanded him, so he did. 16Moses did everything just as the LORD had commanded him.
And so in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, the tent was set up. 17The tabernacle was set up in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month.
Moses set up the tent. He installed its sockets and set its boards in place. He inserted its bars and set up its pillars. 18Moses set up the tabernacle: he laid its bases, positioned its planks, inserted its crossbars, and set up its posts.
He spread the tent over the tent and put the covering of the tent on top of it, just as the LORD had commanded him.19Then he spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent on top of it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Then he took the Testimony, put it into the ark, and placed the poles on the ark. He then put the Mercy Seat on top of the ark. 20Moses took the testimony and placed it in the ark, and attached the poles to the ark. He set the mercy seat on top of the ark.
He brought the ark into the tent, set up the curtain, and screened off the Ark of the Testimony, just as the LORD had commanded him.21He brought the ark into the tabernacle, put up the veil for the screen, and screened off the ark of the testimony, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He put the table in the Tent of Meeting, on the north side of the tent, outside the curtain, 22Moses placed the table in the tent of meeting on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the veil.
and properly arranged the bread on it in the LORD's presence, just as the LORD had commanded him. 23He arranged the bread on it before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.
Then he put the lamp stand in the Tent of Meeting, opposite the table on the south side of the tent, 24He also put the lampstand in the tent of meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle
and set up the lamps in the LORD's presence, just as the LORD had commanded him.25and set up the lamps before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He put the golden altar in the Tent of Meeting in front of the curtain 26Moses also installed the gold altar in the tent of meeting, in front of the veil,
and burned aromatic incense on it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.27and burned fragrant incense on it, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He set up the screen for the doorway of the tent. 28He put up the screen at the entrance to the tabernacle.
He put the altar for burnt offerings at the doorway of the tent of the Tent of Meeting, and offered the burnt offering and the grain offering on it, just as the LORD had commanded him.29Then he placed the altar of burnt offering at the entrance to the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, and offered the burnt offering and the grain offering on it, just as the LORD had commanded him.
He put the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water in it for washing. 30He set the basin between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing.
Moses, Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and feet from it. 31Moses, Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and feet from it.
When they entered the Tent of Meeting and approached the altar, they washed, just as the LORD had commanded him.32They washed whenever they came to the tent of meeting and approached the altar, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He set up the court all around the tent and the altar, and hung up the screen for the gate of the court. And so Moses finished the work.33Next Moses set up the surrounding courtyard for the tabernacle and the altar and hung a screen for the gate of the courtyard. So Moses finished the work.
The cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tent. 34The cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
Moses was not able to enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tent. 35Moses was unable to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud rested on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
Whenever the cloud was lifted up from the tent, the Israelis would set out on their journey, 36The Israelites set out whenever the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle throughout all the stages of their journey.
but if the cloud was not lifted up, they would not set out until it was lifted up, 37If the cloud was not taken up, they did not set out until the day it was taken up.
since the cloud of the LORD was over the tent by day, and the fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel in all their journeys.38For the cloud of the LORD was over the tabernacle by day, and there was a fire inside the cloud by night, visible to the entire house of Israel throughout all the stages of their journey.
