International Standard VersionNew American Standard Bible 1995
The LORD spoke to Moses: 1Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
"On the first day of the first month you are to set up the tent of the Tent of Meeting. 2"On the first day of the first month you shall set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
You are to put the Ark of the Testimony there, and screen off the ark with the curtain. 3"You shall place the ark of the testimony there, and you shall screen the ark with the veil.
You are to bring in the table and properly arrange what goes on it. Then you are to bring in the lamp stand and set up its lamps.4"You shall bring in the table and arrange what belongs on it; and you shall bring in the lampstand and mount its lamps.
"You are to put the golden altar for incense in front of the Ark of the Testimony and then set up the screen for the doorway to the tent. 5"Moreover, you shall set the gold altar of incense before the ark of the testimony, and set up the veil for the doorway to the tabernacle.
You are to put the altar for burnt offerings in front of the doorway of the tent of the Tent of Meeting. 6"You shall set the altar of burnt offering in front of the doorway of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.
You are to put the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar and put water in it.7"You shall set the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it.
You are to set up the court all around, and hang up the screen for the gate of the court. 8"You shall set up the court all around and hang up the veil for the gateway of the court.
You are to take the anointing oil and anoint the tent and all that is in it. You are to consecrate it and all its furnishings and it will be holy.9"Then you shall take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and shall consecrate it and all its furnishings; and it shall be holy.
"You are to anoint the altar for burnt offerings and all its utensils. You are to consecrate the altar and the altar will be most holy. 10"You shall anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and consecrate the altar, and the altar shall be most holy.
You are to anoint the basin and its base and consecrate it. 11"You shall anoint the laver and its stand, and consecrate it.
Then you are to bring Aaron and his sons to the doorway of the Tent of Meeting, and wash them with water. 12"Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the doorway of the tent of meeting and wash them with water.
You are to clothe Aaron with the holy garments, you are to anoint him, and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest. 13"You shall put the holy garments on Aaron and anoint him and consecrate him, that he may minister as a priest to Me.
You are to bring his sons and clothe them with tunics. 14"You shall bring his sons and put tunics on them;
You are to anoint them just as you anointed their father so they may serve me as priests. Their anointing is to qualify them to belong to a perpetual priesthood from generation to generation."15and you shall anoint them even as you have anointed their father, that they may minister as priests to Me; and their anointing will qualify them for a perpetual priesthood throughout their generations."
Moses did everything that the LORD had commanded him, so he did. 16Thus Moses did; according to all that the LORD had commanded him, so he did.
And so in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, the tent was set up. 17Now in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, the tabernacle was erected.
Moses set up the tent. He installed its sockets and set its boards in place. He inserted its bars and set up its pillars. 18Moses erected the tabernacle and laid its sockets, and set up its boards, and inserted its bars and erected its pillars.
He spread the tent over the tent and put the covering of the tent on top of it, just as the LORD had commanded him.19He spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent on top of it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Then he took the Testimony, put it into the ark, and placed the poles on the ark. He then put the Mercy Seat on top of the ark. 20Then he took the testimony and put it into the ark, and attached the poles to the ark, and put the mercy seat on top of the ark.
He brought the ark into the tent, set up the curtain, and screened off the Ark of the Testimony, just as the LORD had commanded him.21He brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up a veil for the screen, and screened off the ark of the testimony, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He put the table in the Tent of Meeting, on the north side of the tent, outside the curtain, 22Then he put the table in the tent of meeting on the north side of the tabernacle, outside the veil.
and properly arranged the bread on it in the LORD's presence, just as the LORD had commanded him. 23He set the arrangement of bread in order on it before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Then he put the lamp stand in the Tent of Meeting, opposite the table on the south side of the tent, 24Then he placed the lampstand in the tent of meeting, opposite the table, on the south side of the tabernacle.
and set up the lamps in the LORD's presence, just as the LORD had commanded him.25He lighted the lamps before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He put the golden altar in the Tent of Meeting in front of the curtain 26Then he placed the gold altar in the tent of meeting in front of the veil;
and burned aromatic incense on it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.27and he burned fragrant incense on it, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He set up the screen for the doorway of the tent. 28Then he set up the veil for the doorway of the tabernacle.
He put the altar for burnt offerings at the doorway of the tent of the Tent of Meeting, and offered the burnt offering and the grain offering on it, just as the LORD had commanded him.29He set the altar of burnt offering before the doorway of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting, and offered on it the burnt offering and the meal offering, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He put the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water in it for washing. 30He placed the laver between the tent of meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing.
Moses, Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and feet from it. 31From it Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet.
When they entered the Tent of Meeting and approached the altar, they washed, just as the LORD had commanded him.32When they entered the tent of meeting, and when they approached the altar, they washed, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
He set up the court all around the tent and the altar, and hung up the screen for the gate of the court. And so Moses finished the work.33He erected the court all around the tabernacle and the altar, and hung up the veil for the gateway of the court. Thus Moses finished the work.
The cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tent. 34Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
Moses was not able to enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tent. 35Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
Whenever the cloud was lifted up from the tent, the Israelis would set out on their journey, 36Throughout all their journeys whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would set out;
but if the cloud was not lifted up, they would not set out until it was lifted up, 37but if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out until the day when it was taken up.
since the cloud of the LORD was over the tent by day, and the fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel in all their journeys.38For throughout all their journeys, the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.
