Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.1When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so they could go and anoint Him.
Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.2Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they went to the tomb at sunrise.
And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?”3They were saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone from the entrance to the tomb for us?"
But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large.4Looking up, they observed that the stone--which was very large--had been rolled away.
And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.5When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; they were amazed and alarmed."
But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.6Don't be alarmed," he told them. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has been resurrected! He is not here! See the place where they put Him.
But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”7But go, tell His disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see Him there just as He told you.'"
So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.8So they went out and started running from the tomb, because trembling and astonishment overwhelmed them. And they said nothing to anyone, since they were afraid.
Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.9Early on the first day of the week, after He had risen, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had driven seven demons.
She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept.10She went and reported to those who had been with Him, as they were mourning and weeping.
And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.11Yet, when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe it.
After that, He appeared in another form to two of them as they walked and went into the country.12Then after this, He appeared in a different form to two of them walking on their way into the country.
And they went and told it to the rest, but they did not believe them either.13And they went and reported it to the rest, who did not believe them either.
Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.14Later, He appeared to the Eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table. He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who saw Him after He had been resurrected.
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.15Then He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;
they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”18they will pick up snakes; if they should drink anything deadly, it will never harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well."
So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.19Then after speaking to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.20And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the accompanying signs.
