Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.1When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices to go and anoint Jesus.
Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.2Very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had just come up, they were going to the tomb.
And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?”3They kept saying to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?"
But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large.4Then they looked up and saw that the stone had been rolled away. (It was a very large stone.)
And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.5As they went into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were utterly astonished.
But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.6But he told them, "Stop being astonished! You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised. He is not here. Look at the place where they laid him.
But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”7But go and tell his disciples—especially Peter—that Jesus is going ahead of you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you."
So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.8So they left the tomb and ran away, overwhelmed by shock and astonishment. They didn't say a thing to anyone, because they were afraid.
Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.9After Jesus had risen early on the first day of that week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had driven out seven demons.
She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept.10She went and told those who had been with Jesus and who now were grieving and crying.
And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.11When they heard that he was alive and that he had been seen by her, they refused to believe Mary.
After that, He appeared in another form to two of them as they walked and went into the country.12After this, Jesus appeared in a different form to two disciples as they were walking into the country.
And they went and told it to the rest, but they did not believe them either.13They went back and told the others, who didn't believe them, either.
Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.14Finally he appeared to his eleven disciples while they were eating. He rebuked them for their unbelief and stubbornness, because they had not believed those who had seen him after he had risen.
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.15Then he told them, "As you go into all the world, proclaim the gospel to everyone.
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever doesn't believe will be condemned.
And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;17These are the signs that will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons. they will speak in new languages.
they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”18and they will pick up snakes with their hands. Even if they drink any deadly poison it will not hurt them; and the'll place their hands on the sick, and they'll recover."
So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.19So the Lord Jesus, after talking with his disciples, was taken up to heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.20Then his disciples went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message by the signs that accompanied it.
