Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.1When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body.
Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.2Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb
And they said among themselves, “Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?”3and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?"
But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—for it was very large.4But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.
And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.5As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.
But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.6"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.
But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”7But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.'"
So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.8Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.
Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.9When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.
She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept.10She went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping.
And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.11When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it.
After that, He appeared in another form to two of them as they walked and went into the country.12Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking in the country.
And they went and told it to the rest, but they did not believe them either.13These returned and reported it to the rest; but they did not believe them either.
Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.14Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.15He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”18they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.19After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.
And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.20Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
