1 לֹֽא־ (Not) תִרְאֶה֩ (you shall see) אֶת־ (-) שׁ֨וֹר (the ox) אָחִ֜יךָ (of your brother) א֤וֹ (or) אֶת־ (-) שֵׂיוֹ֙ (his sheep) נִדָּחִ֔ים (going astray), וְהִתְעַלַּמְתָּ֖ (and hide yourself) מֵהֶ֑ם (from them); הָשֵׁ֥ב (turning) תְּשִׁיבֵ֖ם (you shall turn them back) לְאָחִֽיךָ׃ (to your brother).
2 וְאִם־ (And if) לֹ֨א (not) קָר֥וֹב (is near) אָחִ֛יךָ (your brother) אֵלֶ֖יךָ (to you), וְלֹ֣א (or if not) יְדַעְתּ֑וֹ (you do know him), וַאֲסַפְתּוֹ֙ (and you shall bring it) אֶל־ (to) תּ֣וֹךְ (the middle) בֵּיתֶ֔ךָ (of your own house), וְהָיָ֣ה (and it shall remain) עִמְּךָ֗ (with you) עַ֣ד (until) דְּרֹ֤שׁ (seeks) אָחִ֙יךָ֙ (your brother) אֹת֔וֹ (it)— וַהֲשֵׁבֹת֖וֹ (and you shall restore it) לֽוֹ׃ (to him).
3 וְכֵ֧ן (And so) תַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה (shall you do) לַחֲמֹר֗וֹ (with his donkey), וְכֵ֣ן (and so) תַּעֲשֶׂה֮ (shall you do) לְשִׂמְלָתוֹ֒ (with his garment), וְכֵ֣ן (and so) תַּעֲשֶׂ֜ה (shall you do) לְכָל־ (with any) אֲבֵדַ֥ת (lost thing) אָחִ֛יךָ (of your brother) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) תֹּאבַ֥ד (is lost) מִמֶּ֖נּוּ (by him) וּמְצָאתָ֑הּ (and you have found it). לֹ֥א (Not) תוּכַ֖ל (you must) לְהִתְעַלֵּֽם׃ס (hide yourself).
4 לֹא־ (Not) תִרְאֶה֩ (you shall see) אֶת־ (-) חֲמ֨וֹר (the donkey) אָחִ֜יךָ (of your brother) א֤וֹ (or) שׁוֹרוֹ֙ (his ox) נֹפְלִ֣ים (fall down) בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ (along the road), וְהִתְעַלַּמְתָּ֖ (and hide yourself) מֵהֶ֑ם (from them); הָקֵ֥ם (raising) תָּקִ֖ים (you shall raise them up) עִמּֽוֹ׃ס (with him).
5 לֹא־ (Not) יִהְיֶ֤ה (shall be) כְלִי־ (anything that pertains to) גֶ֙בֶר֙ (a man) עַל־ (upon) אִשָּׁ֔ה (a woman); וְלֹא־ (and not) יִלְבַּ֥שׁ (shall put on) גֶּ֖בֶר (a man) שִׂמְלַ֣ת (the garment) אִשָּׁ֑ה (of a woman), כִּ֧י (for) תוֹעֲבַ֛ת (are an abomination to) יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ (your God) כָּל־ (is anyone) עֹ֥שֵׂה (doing) אֵֽלֶּה׃פ (these things).
6 כִּ֣י (If) יִקָּרֵ֣א (is encountered) קַן־ (the nest) צִפּ֣וֹר׀ (of a bird) לְפָנֶ֡יךָ (to your face) בַּדֶּ֜רֶךְ (along the way) בְּכָל־ (in any) עֵ֣ץ׀ (tree) א֣וֹ (or) עַל־ (on) הָאָ֗רֶץ (the ground), אֶפְרֹחִים֙ (with chicks) א֣וֹ (or) בֵיצִ֔ים (eggs), וְהָאֵ֤ם (and with the mother) רֹבֶ֙צֶת֙ (sitting) עַל־ (on) הָֽאֶפְרֹחִ֔ים (the chicks) א֖וֹ (or) עַל־ (on) הַבֵּיצִ֑ים (the eggs), לֹא־ (not) תִקַּ֥ח (you shall take) הָאֵ֖ם (the mother) עַל־ (with) הַבָּנִֽים׃ (the sons);
7 שַׁלֵּ֤חַ (sending) תְּשַׁלַּח֙ (you shall send away) אֶת־ (-) הָאֵ֔ם (the mother), וְאֶת־ (and) הַבָּנִ֖ים (the young) תִּֽקַּֽח־ (take) לָ֑ךְ (for yourself), לְמַ֙עַן֙ (that) יִ֣יטַב (it may be well) לָ֔ךְ (with you) וְהַאֲרַכְתָּ֖ (and that you may prolong) יָמִֽים׃ס (your days).
8 כִּ֤י (When) תִבְנֶה֙ (you build) בַּ֣יִת (a house) חָדָ֔שׁ (new), וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ (and you shall make) מַעֲקֶ֖ה (a parapet) לְגַגֶּ֑ךָ (for your roof), וְלֹֽא־ (that not) תָשִׂ֤ים (you may bring) דָּמִים֙ (blood) בְּבֵיתֶ֔ךָ (on your house) כִּֽי־ (if) יִפֹּ֥ל (falling) הַנֹּפֵ֖ל (one falls) מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ס (from it).
9 לֹא־ (Not) תִזְרַ֥ע (you shall sow) כַּרְמְךָ֖ (your vineyard with) כִּלְאָ֑יִם (with two kinds of seed), פֶּן־ (lest) תִּקְדַּ֗שׁ (be defiled) הַֽמְלֵאָ֤ה (the yield) הַזֶּ֙רַע֙ (of the seed) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) תִּזְרָ֔ע (you have sown) וּתְבוּאַ֖ת (and the fruit) הַכָּֽרֶם׃ס (of your vineyard).
10 לֹֽא־ (Not) תַחֲרֹ֥שׁ (you shall plow) בְּשׁוֹר־ (with an ox) וּבַחֲמֹ֖ר (and with an donkey) יַחְדָּֽו׃ס (together).
11 לֹ֤א (Not) תִלְבַּשׁ֙ (you shall wear) שַֽׁעַטְנֵ֔ז (mixed material), צֶ֥מֶר (wool) וּפִשְׁתִּ֖ים (and linen) יַחְדָּֽו׃ס (mixed together).
12 גְּדִלִ֖ים (Tassels) תַּעֲשֶׂה־ (you shall make) לָּ֑ךְ (for yourself) עַל־ (on) אַרְבַּ֛ע (the four) כַּנְפ֥וֹת (corners) כְּסוּתְךָ֖ (of the clothing), אֲשֶׁ֥ר (with which) תְּכַסֶּה־ (you cover yourself) בָּֽהּ׃ס (with it).
Marriage Violations
13 כִּֽי־ (If) יִקַּ֥ח (takes) אִ֖ישׁ (any man) אִשָּׁ֑ה (a wife), וּבָ֥א (and he goes in) אֵלֶ֖יהָ (to her) וּשְׂנֵאָֽהּ׃ (and detests her),
14 וְשָׂ֥ם (and he charges) לָהּ֙ (her) עֲלִילֹ֣ת (with conduct) דְּבָרִ֔ים (shameful) וְהוֹצִ֥יא (and brings) עָלֶ֖יהָ (on her) שֵׁ֣ם (a name) רָ֑ע (bad) וְאָמַ֗ר (and says), אֶת־ (-) הָאִשָּׁ֤ה (The woman) הַזֹּאת֙ (this) לָקַ֔חְתִּי (I took), וָאֶקְרַ֣ב (and I came) אֵלֶ֔יהָ (to her), וְלֹא־ (and not) מָצָ֥אתִי (did I find) לָ֖הּ (her) בְּתוּלִֽים׃ (a virgin),
15 וְלָקַ֛ח (and shall take) אֲבִ֥י (the father) הַנַּעַר (the young woman)— וְאִמָּ֑הּ (and mother)— וְהוֹצִ֜יאוּ (and bring out) אֶת־ (-) בְּתוּלֵ֧י (the tokens of virginity) הַנַּעַר (of the young woman) אֶל־ (to) זִקְנֵ֥י (the elders) הָעִ֖יר (of the city) הַשָּֽׁעְרָה׃ (at the gate).
16 וְאָמַ֛ר (And shall say) אֲבִ֥י (the father) הַנַּעַר (of the young woman) אֶל־ (to) הַזְּקֵנִ֑ים (the elders), אֶת־ (-) בִּתִּ֗י (My daughter) נָתַ֜תִּי (I gave) לָאִ֥ישׁ (to the man) הַזֶּ֛ה (this) לְאִשָּׁ֖ה (as a wife), וַיִּשְׂנָאֶֽהָ׃ (and he detests her).
17 וְהִנֵּה־ (And behold) ה֡וּא (he) שָׂם֩ (has charged her) עֲלִילֹ֨ת (with conduct) דְּבָרִ֜ים (shameful), לֵאמֹ֗ר (saying), לֹֽא־ (Not) מָצָ֤אתִי (I found) לְבִתְּךָ֙ (your daughter) בְּתוּלִ֔ים (a virgin), וְאֵ֖לֶּה (and these) בְּתוּלֵ֣י (are the tokens of the virginity) בִתִּ֑י (of my daughter). וּפָֽרְשׂוּ֙ (And they shall spread) הַשִּׂמְלָ֔ה (the cloth) לִפְנֵ֖י (before) זִקְנֵ֥י (the elders) הָעִֽיר׃ (of the city).
18 וְלָֽקְח֛וּ (And shall take) זִקְנֵ֥י (the elders) הָֽעִיר־ (of the city) הַהִ֖וא (that) אֶת־ (-) הָאִ֑ישׁ (the man), וְיִסְּר֖וּ (and they shall discipline him) אֹתֽוֹ׃ (him).
19 וְעָנְשׁ֨וּ (And they shall fine) אֹת֜וֹ (him) מֵ֣אָה (a hundred shekels) כֶ֗סֶף (of silver) וְנָתְנוּ֙ (and give them) לַאֲבִ֣י (to the father) הַֽנַּעֲרָ֔ה (of the young woman), כִּ֤י (because) הוֹצִיא֙ (he has brought) שֵׁ֣ם (a name) רָ֔ע (bad) עַ֖ל (on) בְּתוּלַ֣ת (a virgin) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel). וְלֽוֹ־ (And to him) תִהְיֶ֣ה (she shall be) לְאִשָּׁ֔ה (wife); לֹא־ (not) יוּכַ֥ל (he may) לְשַּׁלְּחָ֖הּ (divorce her) כָּל־ (all) יָמָֽיו׃ס (his days).
20 וְאִם־ (But if) אֱמֶ֣ת (true) הָיָ֔ה (is) הַדָּבָ֖ר (the thing) הַזֶּ֑ה (this) לֹא־ (and not) נִמְצְא֥וּ (are found) בְתוּלִ֖ים (tokens of virginity) לַנַּעַר׃ (for the young woman);
21 וְהוֹצִ֨יאוּ (then they shall bring out) אֶת־ (-) הַנַּעַר (the young woman) אֶל־ (to) פֶּ֣תַח (the door) בֵּית־ (of house) אָבִ֗יהָ (of her father), וּסְקָלוּהָ֩ (and shall stone her) אַנְשֵׁ֨י (the men) עִירָ֤הּ (of her city) בָּאֲבָנִים֙ (with stones) וָמֵ֔תָה (and to death), כִּֽי־ (because) עָשְׂתָ֤ה (she has done) נְבָלָה֙ (a disgraceful thing) בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (in Israel) לִזְנ֖וֹת (to play the prostitute) בֵּ֣ית (in the house) אָבִ֑יהָ (of her father). וּבִֽעַרְתָּ֥ (And you shall put away) הָרָ֖ע (the evil) מִקִּרְבֶּֽךָ׃ס (from among you).
22 כִּֽי־ (If) יִמָּצֵ֨א (is found) אִ֜ישׁ (a man) שֹׁכֵ֣ב׀ (lying) עִם־ (with) אִשָּׁ֣ה (a woman) בְעֻֽלַת־ (married) בַּ֗עַל (to a husband), וּמֵ֙תוּ֙ (then they shall die) גַּם־ (even) שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם (the two of them) הָאִ֛ישׁ (the man) הַשֹּׁכֵ֥ב (that lay) עִם־ (with) הָאִשָּׁ֖ה (the woman) וְהָאִשָּׁ֑ה (and the woman). וּבִֽעַרְתָּ֥ (And you shall put away) הָרָ֖ע (the evil) מִיִּשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ס (from Israel).
23 כִּ֤י (If) יִהְיֶה֙ (it is), נַעַר (a young woman) בְתוּלָ֔ה (a virgin) מְאֹרָשָׂ֖ה (is betrothed) לְאִ֑ישׁ (to a husband), וּמְצָאָ֥הּ (and finds her) אִ֛ישׁ (a man) בָּעִ֖יר (in the city) וְשָׁכַ֥ב (and lies) עִמָּֽהּ׃ (with her),
24 וְהוֹצֵאתֶ֨ם (then you⁺ shall bring out) אֶת־ (-) שְׁנֵיהֶ֜ם (the two of them) אֶל־ (to) שַׁ֣עַר׀ (the gate) הָעִ֣יר (of city) הַהִ֗וא (that), וּסְקַלְתֶּ֨ם (and you⁺ shall stone) אֹתָ֥ם (them) בָּאֲבָנִים֮ (with stones) וָמֵתוּ֒ (and to death)— אֶת־ (-) הַנַּעַר (the young woman) עַל־ (on account) דְּבַר֙ (of the matter) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (because) לֹא־ (not) צָעֲקָ֣ה (she did cry out) בָעִ֔יר (in the city), וְאֶ֨ת־ (and) הָאִ֔ישׁ (the man) עַל־ (upon) דְּבַ֥ר (this thing) אֲשֶׁר־ (because) עִנָּ֖ה (he humbled) אֶת־ (-) אֵ֣שֶׁת (the wife) רֵעֵ֑הוּ (of his neighbor). וּבִֽעַרְתָּ֥ (And you shall put away) הָרָ֖ע (the evil) מִקִּרְבֶּֽךָ׃ס (from among you).
25 וְֽאִם־ (But if) בַּשָּׂדֶ֞ה (in the countryside) יִמְצָ֣א (finds) הָאִ֗ישׁ (the man) אֶת־ (-) הַנַּעַר (a young woman) הַמְאֹ֣רָשָׂ֔ה (betrothed), וְהֶחֱזִֽיק־ (and forces) בָּ֥הּ (her) הָאִ֖ישׁ (the man) וְשָׁכַ֣ב (and lies) עִמָּ֑הּ (with her), וּמֵ֗ת (and shall die) הָאִ֛ישׁ (the man) אֲשֶׁר־ (who) שָׁכַ֥ב (lay) עִמָּ֖הּ (with her) לְבַדּֽוֹ׃ (only).
26 וְלַנַּעַר (And to the young woman) לֹא־ (not) תַעֲשֶׂ֣ה (you shall do) דָבָ֔ר (anything); אֵ֥ין (not) לַנַּעַר (in the young woman) חֵ֣טְא (is sin) מָ֑וֶת (of death). כִּ֡י (For) כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ (as when) יָק֨וּם (rises) אִ֤ישׁ (a man) עַל־ (against) רֵעֵ֙הוּ֙ (his neighbor) וּרְצָח֣וֹ (and kills) נֶ֔פֶשׁ (him), כֵּ֖ן (even so is) הַדָּבָ֥ר (the matter) הַזֶּֽה׃ (this).
27 כִּ֥י (For) בַשָּׂדֶ֖ה (in the countryside) מְצָאָ֑הּ (he found her), צָעֲקָ֗ה (cried out) הַנַּעַר (and the young woman) הַמְאֹ֣רָשָׂ֔ה (betrothed), וְאֵ֥ין (and there was no one) מוֹשִׁ֖יעַ (to save) לָֽהּ׃ס (her).
28 כִּֽי־ (If) יִמְצָ֣א (finds) אִ֗ישׁ (a man) נַעַר (a young woman), בְתוּלָה֙ (a virgin) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who) לֹא־ (not) אֹרָ֔שָׂה (is betrothed), וּתְפָשָׂ֖הּ (and he seizes her) וְשָׁכַ֣ב (and lies) עִמָּ֑הּ (with her) וְנִמְצָֽאוּ׃ (and they are found out),
29 וְ֠נָתַן (then shall give) הָאִ֨ישׁ (the man) הַשֹּׁכֵ֥ב (who lay) עִמָּ֛הּ (with her) לַאֲבִ֥י (to father) הַנַּעַר (of the young woman) חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים (fifty shekels) כָּ֑סֶף (of silver), וְלֽוֹ־ (and to him) תִהְיֶ֣ה (she shall be) לְאִשָּׁ֗ה (wife) תַּ֚חַת (upon) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) עִנָּ֔הּ (he has humbled her). לֹא־ (Not) יוּכַ֥ל (he shall be permitted) שַׁלְּחָ֖ה (to divorce her) כָּל־ (all) יָמָֽיו׃ס (his days).
30 לֹא־ (Not) יִקַּ֥ח (shall take) אִ֖ישׁ (a man) אֶת־ (-) אֵ֣שֶׁת (the wife) אָבִ֑יו (of his father), וְלֹ֥א (and not) יְגַלֶּ֖ה (he shall uncover) כְּנַ֥ף (the skirt) אָבִֽיו׃ס (of his father).
