When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him.1Καταβάντος δὲ αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ ὄρους ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ ὄχλοι πολλοί
And a leper came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean."2καὶ ἰδοὺ λεπρὸς προσελθὼν προσεκύνει αὐτῷ λέγων Κύριε ἐὰν θέλῃς δύνασαί με καθαρίσαι
Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.3Καὶ ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἥψατο αὐτοῦ λέγων Θέλω καθαρίσθητι καὶ εὐθέως ἐκαθαρίσθη* αὐτοῦ λέπρα
And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."4καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ Ἰησοῦς Ὅρα μηδενὶ εἴπῃς ἀλλὰ ὕπαγε σεαυτὸν δεῖξον τῷ ἱερεῖ καὶ προσένεγκον τὸ δῶρον προσέταξεν Μωϋσῆς εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς
And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, imploring Him,5Εἰσελθόντος δὲ αὐτοῦ εἰς Καφαρναοὺμ προσῆλθεν αὐτῷ ἑκατόνταρχος παρακαλῶν αὐτὸν
and saying, "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, fearfully tormented."6καὶ λέγων Κύριε παῖς μου βέβληται ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ παραλυτικός δεινῶς βασανιζόμενος
Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him."7‹Καὶ› λέγει αὐτῷ Ἐγὼ ἐλθὼν θεραπεύσω αὐτόν
But the centurion said, "Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed.8Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ἑκατόνταρχος ἔφη Κύριε οὐκ εἰμὶ ἱκανὸς ἵνα μου ὑπὸ τὴν στέγην εἰσέλθῃς ἀλλὰ μόνον εἰπὲ λόγῳ καὶ ἰαθήσεται παῖς μου
"For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, 'Go!' and he goes, and to another, 'Come!' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this!' and he does it."9καὶ γὰρ ἐγὼ ἄνθρωπός εἰμι ὑπὸ ἐξουσίαν (τασσόμενος) ἔχων ὑπ’ ἐμαυτὸν στρατιώτας καὶ λέγω τούτῳ Πορεύθητι καὶ πορεύεται καὶ ἄλλῳ Ἔρχου καὶ ἔρχεται καὶ τῷ δούλῳ μου Ποίησον τοῦτο καὶ ποιεῖ
Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, "Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel.10Ἀκούσας δὲ Ἰησοῦς ἐθαύμασεν καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς ἀκολουθοῦσιν Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν παρ’ οὐδενὶ τοσαύτην πίστιν ἐν τῷ Ἰσραὴλ εὗρον
"I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;11λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι πολλοὶ ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ δυσμῶν ἥξουσιν καὶ ἀνακλιθήσονται μετὰ Ἀβραὰμ καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰακὼβ ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τῶν οὐρανῶν
but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."12οἱ δὲ υἱοὶ τῆς βασιλείας ἐκβληθήσονται εἰς τὸ σκότος τὸ ἐξώτερον ἐκεῖ ἔσται κλαυθμὸς καὶ βρυγμὸς τῶν ὀδόντων
And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed that very moment.13Καὶ εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς τῷ ἑκατοντάρχῃ Ὕπαγε ὡς ἐπίστευσας γενηθήτω σοι καὶ ἰάθη παῖς [αὐτοῦ] ἐν τῇ ὥρᾳ ἐκείνῃ
When Jesus came into Peter's home, He saw his mother-in-law lying sick in bed with a fever.14Καὶ ἐλθὼν Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν Πέτρου εἶδεν τὴν πενθερὰν αὐτοῦ βεβλημένην καὶ πυρέσσουσαν
He touched her hand, and the fever left her; and she got up and waited on Him.15καὶ ἥψατο τῆς χειρὸς αὐτῆς καὶ ἀφῆκεν αὐτὴν πυρετός καὶ ἠγέρθη καὶ διηκόνει αὐτῷ
When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill.16Ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης προσήνεγκαν αὐτῷ δαιμονιζομένους πολλούς καὶ ἐξέβαλεν τὰ πνεύματα λόγῳ καὶ πάντας τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας ἐθεράπευσεν
This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: "HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES."17ὅπως πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ Ἠσαΐου τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος Αὐτὸς τὰς ἀσθενείας ἡμῶν ἔλαβεν καὶ τὰς νόσους ἐβάστασεν
Now when Jesus saw a crowd around Him, He gave orders to depart to the other side of the sea.18Ἰδὼν δὲ Ἰησοῦς ‹πολλοὺς› ὄχλον περὶ αὐτὸν ἐκέλευσεν ἀπελθεῖν εἰς τὸ πέραν
Then a scribe came and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go."19Καὶ προσελθὼν εἷς γραμματεὺς εἶπεν αὐτῷ Διδάσκαλε ἀκολουθήσω σοι ὅπου ἐὰν ἀπέρχῃ
Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."20Καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ Ἰησοῦς Αἱ ἀλώπεκες φωλεοὺς ἔχουσιν καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ κατασκηνώσεις δὲ Υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου οὐκ ἔχει ποῦ τὴν κεφαλὴν κλίνῃ
Another of the disciples said to Him, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father."21Ἕτερος δὲ τῶν μαθητῶν [αὐτοῦ] εἶπεν αὐτῷ Κύριε ἐπίτρεψόν μοι πρῶτον ἀπελθεῖν καὶ θάψαι τὸν πατέρα μου
But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead."22 δὲ Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτῷ Ἀκολούθει μοι καὶ ἄφες τοὺς νεκροὺς θάψαι τοὺς ἑαυτῶν νεκρούς
When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him.23Καὶ ἐμβάντι αὐτῷ εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ
And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep.24καὶ ἰδοὺ σεισμὸς μέγας ἐγένετο ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ ὥστε τὸ πλοῖον καλύπτεσθαι ὑπὸ τῶν κυμάτων αὐτὸς δὲ ἐκάθευδεν
And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing!"25καὶ προσελθόντες ἤγειραν αὐτὸν λέγοντες Κύριε σῶσον ἀπολλύμεθα
He said to them, "Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?" Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm.26Καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς Τί δειλοί ἐστε ὀλιγόπιστοι τότε ἐγερθεὶς ἐπετίμησεν τοῖς ἀνέμοις καὶ τῇ θαλάσσῃ καὶ ἐγένετο γαλήνη μεγάλη
The men were amazed, and said, "What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?"27Οἱ δὲ ἄνθρωποι ἐθαύμασαν λέγοντες Ποταπός ἐστιν οὗτος ὅτι καὶ οἱ ἄνεμοι καὶ θάλασσα αὐτῷ ὑπακούουσιν
When He came to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed met Him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way.28Καὶ ἐλθόντος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ πέραν εἰς τὴν χώραν τῶν Γαδαρηνῶν ὑπήντησαν αὐτῷ δύο δαιμονιζόμενοι ἐκ τῶν μνημείων ἐξερχόμενοι χαλεποὶ λίαν ὥστε μὴ ἰσχύειν τινὰ παρελθεῖν διὰ τῆς ὁδοῦ ἐκείνης
And they cried out, saying, "What business do we have with each other, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?"29Καὶ ἰδοὺ ἔκραξαν λέγοντες Τί ἡμῖν καὶ σοί Υἱὲ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἦλθες ὧδε πρὸ καιροῦ βασανίσαι ἡμᾶς
Now there was a herd of many swine feeding at a distance from them.30Ἦν δὲ μακρὰν ἀπ’ αὐτῶν ἀγέλη χοίρων πολλῶν βοσκομένη
The demons began to entreat Him, saying, "If You are going to cast us out, send us into the herd of swine."31οἱ δὲ δαίμονες παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν λέγοντες Εἰ ἐκβάλλεις ἡμᾶς ἀπόστειλον ἡμᾶς εἰς τὴν ἀγέλην τῶν χοίρων
And He said to them, "Go!" And they came out and went into the swine, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters.32Καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ὑπάγετε οἱ δὲ ἐξελθόντες ἀπῆλθον εἰς τοὺς χοίρους καὶ ἰδοὺ ὥρμησεν πᾶσα ἀγέλη κατὰ τοῦ κρημνοῦ εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ ἀπέθανον ἐν τοῖς ὕδασιν
The herdsmen ran away, and went to the city and reported everything, including what had happened to the demoniacs.33Οἱ δὲ βόσκοντες ἔφυγον καὶ ἀπελθόντες εἰς τὴν πόλιν ἀπήγγειλαν πάντα καὶ τὰ τῶν δαιμονιζομένων
And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, they implored Him to leave their region.34καὶ ἰδοὺ πᾶσα πόλις ἐξῆλθεν εἰς ὑπάντησιν τῷ Ἰησοῦ καὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν παρεκάλεσαν ὅπως μεταβῇ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων αὐτῶν
