Leviticus 26
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
"'You must not make for yourselves idols, so you must not set up for yourselves a carved image or a pillar, and you must not place a sculpted stone in your land to bow down before it, for I am the LORD your God.1“You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the LORD your God.
You must keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary. I am the LORD. 2You shall keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
"'If you walk in my statutes and are sure to obey my commandments,3“If you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments and do them,
I will give you your rains in their time so that the land will give its yield and the trees of the field will produce their fruit.4then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
Threshing season will extend for you until the season for harvesting grapes, and the season for harvesting grapes will extend until sowing season, so you will eat your bread until you are satisfied, and you will live securely in your land.5Your threshing shall last to the time of the grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall last to the time for sowing. And you shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land securely.
I will grant peace in the land so that you will lie down to sleep without anyone terrifying you. I will remove harmful animals from the land, and no sword of war will pass through your land.6I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid. And I will remove harmful beasts from the land, and the sword shall not go through your land.
You will pursue your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword.7You shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
Five of you will pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you will pursue ten thousand, and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.8Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand, and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
I will turn to you, make you fruitful, multiply you, and maintain my covenant with you.9I will turn to you and make you fruitful and multiply you and will confirm my covenant with you.
You will still be eating stored produce from the previous year and will have to clean out what is stored from the previous year to make room for new. 10You shall eat old store long kept, and you shall clear out the old to make way for the new.
"'I will put my tabernacle in your midst and I will not abhor you.11I will make my dwelling among you, and my soul shall not abhor you.
I will walk among you, and I will be your God and you will be my people.12And I will walk among you and will be your God, and you shall be my people.
I am the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, from being their slaves, and I broke the bars of your yoke and caused you to walk upright. 13I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves. And I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.
"'If, however, you do not obey me and keep all these commandments--14“But if you will not listen to me and will not do all these commandments,
if you reject my statutes and abhor my regulations so that you do not keep all my commandments and you break my covenant--15if you spurn my statutes, and if your soul abhors my rules, so that you will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant,
I for my part will do this to you: I will inflict horror on you, consumption and fever, which diminish eyesight and drain away the vitality of life. You will sow your seed in vain because your enemies will eat it.16then I will do this to you: I will visit you with panic, with wasting disease and fever that consume the eyes and make the heart ache. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
I will set my face against you. You will be struck down before your enemies, those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when there is no one pursuing you. 17I will set my face against you, and you shall be struck down before your enemies. Those who hate you shall rule over you, and you shall flee when none pursues you.
"'If, in spite of all these things, you do not obey me, I will discipline you seven times more on account of your sins.18And if in spite of this you will not listen to me, then I will discipline you again sevenfold for your sins,
I will break your strong pride and make your sky like iron and your land like bronze.19and I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.
Your strength will be used up in vain, your land will not give its yield, and the trees of the land will not produce their fruit. 20And your strength shall be spent in vain, for your land shall not yield its increase, and the trees of the land shall not yield their fruit.
"'If you walk in hostility against me and are not willing to obey me, I will increase your affliction seven times according to your sins.21“Then if you walk contrary to me and will not listen to me, I will continue striking you, sevenfold for your sins.
I will send the wild animals against you and they will bereave you of your children, annihilate your cattle, and diminish your population so that your roads will become deserted. 22And I will let loose the wild beasts against you, which shall bereave you of your children and destroy your livestock and make you few in number, so that your roads shall be deserted.
"'If in spite of these things you do not allow yourselves to be disciplined and you walk in hostility against me,23“And if by this discipline you are not turned to me but walk contrary to me,
I myself will also walk in hostility against you and strike you seven times on account of your sins.24then I also will walk contrary to you, and I myself will strike you sevenfold for your sins.
I will bring on you an avenging sword, a covenant vengeance. Although you will gather together into your cities, I will send pestilence among you and you will be given into enemy hands.25And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall execute vengeance for the covenant. And if you gather within your cities, I will send pestilence among you, and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
When I break off your supply of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven; they will ration your bread by weight, and you will eat and not be satisfied. 26When I break your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in a single oven and shall dole out your bread again by weight, and you shall eat and not be satisfied.
"'If in spite of this you do not obey me but walk in hostility against me,27“But if in spite of this you will not listen to me, but walk contrary to me,
I will walk in hostile rage against you and I myself will also discipline you seven times on account of your sins.28then I will walk contrary to you in fury, and I myself will discipline you sevenfold for your sins.
You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters.29You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.
I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars, and I will stack your dead bodies on top of the lifeless bodies of your idols. I will abhor you.30And I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars and cast your dead bodies upon the dead bodies of your idols, and my soul will abhor you.
I will lay your cities waste and make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will refuse to smell your soothing aromas.31And I will lay your cities waste and will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your pleasing aromas.
I myself will make the land desolate and your enemies who live in it will be appalled.32And I myself will devastate the land, so that your enemies who settle in it shall be appalled at it.
I will scatter you among the nations and unsheathe the sword after you, so your land will become desolate and your cities will become a waste. 33And I will scatter you among the nations, and I will unsheathe the sword after you, and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.
"'Then the land will make up for its Sabbaths all the days it lies desolate while you are in the land of your enemies; then the land will rest and make up its Sabbaths.34“Then the land shall enjoy its Sabbaths as long as it lies desolate, while you are in your enemies’ land; then the land shall rest, and enjoy its Sabbaths.
All the days of the desolation it will have the rest it did not have on your Sabbaths when you lived on it. 35As long as it lies desolate it shall have rest, the rest that it did not have on your Sabbaths when you were dwelling in it.
"'As for the ones who remain among you, I will bring despair into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a blowing leaf will pursue them, and they will flee as one who flees the sword and fall down even though there is no pursuer.36And as for those of you who are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a driven leaf shall put them to flight, and they shall flee as one flees from the sword, and they shall fall when none pursues.
They will stumble over each other as those who flee before a sword, though there is no pursuer, and there will be no one to take a stand for you before your enemies.37They shall stumble over one another, as if to escape a sword, though none pursues. And you shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
You will perish among the nations; the land of your enemies will consume you. 38And you shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.
"'As for the ones who remain among you, they will rot away because of their iniquity in the lands of your enemies, and they will also rot away because of their ancestors' iniquities which are with them.39And those of you who are left shall rot away in your enemies’ lands because of their iniquity, and also because of the iniquities of their fathers they shall rot away like them.
However, when they confess their iniquity and their ancestors' iniquity which they committed by trespassing against me, by which they also walked in hostility against me40“But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers in their treachery that they committed against me, and also in walking contrary to me,
(and I myself will walk in hostility against them and bring them into the land of their enemies), and then their uncircumcised hearts become humbled and they make up for their iniquity,41so that I walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies—if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled and they make amends for their iniquity,
I will remember my covenant with Jacob and also my covenant with Isaac and also my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.42then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and I will remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.
The land will be abandoned by them in order that it may make up for its Sabbaths while it is made desolate without them, and they will make up for their iniquity because they have rejected my regulations and have abhorred my statutes.43But the land shall be abandoned by them and enjoy its Sabbaths while it lies desolate without them, and they shall make amends for their iniquity, because they spurned my rules and their soul abhorred my statutes.
In spite of this, however, when they are in the land of their enemies I will not reject them and abhor them to make a complete end of them, to break my covenant with them, for I am the LORD their God.44Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not spurn them, neither will I abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and break my covenant with them, for I am the LORD their God.
I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought out from the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their God. I am the LORD.'" 45But I will for their sake remember the covenant with their forefathers, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.”
These are the statutes, regulations, and instructions which the LORD established between himself and the Israelites at Mount Sinai through Moses. 46These are the statutes and rules and laws that the LORD made between himself and the people of Israel through Moses on Mount Sinai.
