NIV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionNET Bible
A maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the LORD's great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.1A well-written song by Ethan the Ezrachite. I will sing continually about the LORD's faithful deeds; to future generations I will proclaim your faithfulness.
I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.2For I say, "Loyal love is permanently established; in the skies you set up your faithfulness."
You said, "I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant,3The LORD said, "I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have made a promise on oath to David, my servant:
I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations.'"4I will give you an eternal dynasty and establish your throne throughout future generations.'" (Selah)
The heavens praise your wonders, LORD, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.5O LORD, the heavens praise your amazing deeds, as well as your faithfulness in the angelic assembly.
For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?6For who in the skies can compare to the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings,
In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.7a God who is honored in the great angelic assembly, and more awesome than all who surround him?
Who is like you, LORD God Almighty? You, LORD, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.8O LORD, sovereign God! Who is strong like you, O LORD? Your faithfulness surrounds you.
You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them.9You rule over the proud sea. When its waves surge, you calm them.
You crushed Rahab like one of the slain; with your strong arm you scattered your enemies.10You crushed the Proud One and killed it; with your strong arm you scattered your enemies.
The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it.11The heavens belong to you, as does the earth. You made the world and all it contains.
You created the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon sing for joy at your name.12You created the north and the south. Tabor and Hermon rejoice in your name.
Your arm is endowed with power; your hand is strong, your right hand exalted.13Your arm is powerful, your hand strong, your right hand victorious.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.14Equity and justice are the foundation of your throne. Loyal love and faithfulness characterize your rule.
Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, LORD.15How blessed are the people who worship you! O LORD, they experience your favor.
They rejoice in your name all day long; they celebrate your righteousness.16They rejoice in your name all day long, and are vindicated by your justice.
For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our horn.17For you give them splendor and strength. By your favor we are victorious.
Indeed, our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.18For our shield belongs to the LORD, our king to the Holy One of Israel.
Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful people you said: "I have bestowed strength on a warrior; I have raised up a young man from among the people.19Then you spoke through a vision to your faithful followers and said: "I have energized a warrior; I have raised up a young man from the people.
I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him.20I have discovered David, my servant. With my holy oil I have anointed him as king.
My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him.21My hand will support him, and my arm will strengthen him.
The enemy will not get the better of him; the wicked will not oppress him.22No enemy will be able to exact tribute from him; a violent oppressor will not be able to humiliate him.
I will crush his foes before him and strike down his adversaries.23I will crush his enemies before him; I will strike down those who hate him.
My faithful love will be with him, and through my name his horn will be exalted.24He will experience my faithfulness and loyal love, and by my name he will win victories.
I will set his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers.25I will place his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers.
He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.'26He will call out to me, 'You are my father, my God, and the protector who delivers me.'
And I will appoint him to be my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth.27I will appoint him to be my firstborn son, the most exalted of the earth's kings.
I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail.28I will always extend my loyal love to him, and my covenant with him is secure.
I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.29I will give him an eternal dynasty, and make his throne as enduring as the skies above.
"If his sons forsake my law and do not follow my statutes,30If his sons reject my law and disobey my regulations,
if they violate my decrees and fail to keep my commands,31if they break my rules and do not keep my commandments,
I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging;32I will punish their rebellion by beating them with a club, their sin by inflicting them with bruises.
but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.33But I will not remove my loyal love from him, nor be unfaithful to my promise.
I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered.34I will not break my covenant or go back on what I promised.
Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness-- and I will not lie to David--35Once and for all I have vowed by my own holiness, I will never deceive David.
that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun;36His dynasty will last forever. His throne will endure before me, like the sun,
it will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky."37it will remain stable, like the moon, his throne will endure like the skies." (Selah)
But you have rejected, you have spurned, you have been very angry with your anointed one.38But you have spurned and rejected him; you are angry with your chosen king.
You have renounced the covenant with your servant and have defiled his crown in the dust.39You have repudiated your covenant with your servant; you have thrown his crown to the ground.
You have broken through all his walls and reduced his strongholds to ruins.40You have broken down all his walls; you have made his strongholds a heap of ruins.
All who pass by have plundered him; he has become the scorn of his neighbors.41All who pass by have robbed him; he has become an object of disdain to his neighbors.
You have exalted the right hand of his foes; you have made all his enemies rejoice.42You have allowed his adversaries to be victorious, and all his enemies to rejoice.
Indeed, you have turned back the edge of his sword and have not supported him in battle.43You turn back his sword from the adversary, and have not sustained him in battle.
You have put an end to his splendor and cast his throne to the ground.44You have brought to an end his splendor, and have knocked his throne to the ground.
You have cut short the days of his youth; you have covered him with a mantle of shame.45You have cut short his youth, and have covered him with shame. (Selah)
How long, LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire?46How long, O LORD, will this last? Will you remain hidden forever? Will your anger continue to burn like fire?
Remember how fleeting is my life. For what futility you have created all humanity!47Take note of my brief lifespan! Why do you make all people so mortal?
Who can live and not see death, or who can escape the power of the grave?48No man can live on without experiencing death, or deliver his life from the power of Sheol. (Selah)
Lord, where is your former great love, which in your faithfulness you swore to David?49Where are your earlier faithful deeds, O Lord, the ones performed in accordance with your reliable oath to David?
Remember, Lord, how your servant has been mocked, how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the nations,50Take note, O Lord, of the way your servants are taunted, and of how I must bear so many insults from people!
the taunts with which your enemies, LORD, have mocked, with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one.51Your enemies, O LORD, hurl insults; they insult your chosen king as they dog his footsteps.
Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.52The LORD deserves praise forevermore! We agree! We agree!
