New King James VersionNET Bible
‘You shall not make idols for yourselves; neither a carved image nor a sacred pillar shall you rear up for yourselves; nor shall you set up an engraved stone in your land, to bow down to it; for I am the LORD your God.1"'You must not make for yourselves idols, so you must not set up for yourselves a carved image or a pillar, and you must not place a sculpted stone in your land to bow down before it, for I am the LORD your God.
You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary: I am the LORD.2You must keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary. I am the LORD.
‘If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them,3"'If you walk in my statutes and are sure to obey my commandments,
then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.4I will give you your rains in their time so that the land will give its yield and the trees of the field will produce their fruit.
Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing; you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.5Threshing season will extend for you until the season for harvesting grapes, and the season for harvesting grapes will extend until sowing season, so you will eat your bread until you are satisfied, and you will live securely in your land.
I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid; I will rid the land of evil beasts, and the sword will not go through your land.6I will grant peace in the land so that you will lie down to sleep without anyone terrifying you. I will remove harmful animals from the land, and no sword of war will pass through your land.
You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you.7You will pursue your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword.
Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.8Five of you will pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you will pursue ten thousand, and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.
‘For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you.9I will turn to you, make you fruitful, multiply you, and maintain my covenant with you.
You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new.10You will still be eating stored produce from the previous year and will have to clean out what is stored from the previous year to make room for new.
I will set My tabernacle among you, and My soul shall not abhor you.11"'I will put my tabernacle in your midst and I will not abhor you.
I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.12I will walk among you, and I will be your God and you will be my people.
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves; I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright.13I am the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, from being their slaves, and I broke the bars of your yoke and caused you to walk upright.
‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments,14"'If, however, you do not obey me and keep all these commandments--
and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant,15if you reject my statutes and abhor my regulations so that you do not keep all my commandments and you break my covenant--
I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.16I for my part will do this to you: I will inflict horror on you, consumption and fever, which diminish eyesight and drain away the vitality of life. You will sow your seed in vain because your enemies will eat it.
I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.17I will set my face against you. You will be struck down before your enemies, those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when there is no one pursuing you.
‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.18"'If, in spite of all these things, you do not obey me, I will discipline you seven times more on account of your sins.
I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.19I will break your strong pride and make your sky like iron and your land like bronze.
And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.20Your strength will be used up in vain, your land will not give its yield, and the trees of the land will not produce their fruit.
‘Then, if you walk contrary to Me, and are not willing to obey Me, I will bring on you seven times more plagues, according to your sins.21"'If you walk in hostility against me and are not willing to obey me, I will increase your affliction seven times according to your sins.
I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, destroy your livestock, and make you few in number; and your highways shall be desolate.22I will send the wild animals against you and they will bereave you of your children, annihilate your cattle, and diminish your population so that your roads will become deserted.
‘And if by these things you are not reformed by Me, but walk contrary to Me,23"'If in spite of these things you do not allow yourselves to be disciplined and you walk in hostility against me,
then I also will walk contrary to you, and I will punish you yet seven times for your sins.24I myself will also walk in hostility against you and strike you seven times on account of your sins.
And I will bring a sword against you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; when you are gathered together within your cities I will send pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.25I will bring on you an avenging sword, a covenant vengeance. Although you will gather together into your cities, I will send pestilence among you and you will be given into enemy hands.
When I have cut off your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall bring back your bread by weight, and you shall eat and not be satisfied.26When I break off your supply of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven; they will ration your bread by weight, and you will eat and not be satisfied.
‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, but walk contrary to Me,27"'If in spite of this you do not obey me but walk in hostility against me,
then I also will walk contrary to you in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.28I will walk in hostile rage against you and I myself will also discipline you seven times on account of your sins.
You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.29You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters.
I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and cast your carcasses on the lifeless forms of your idols; and My soul shall abhor you.30I will destroy your high places and cut down your incense altars, and I will stack your dead bodies on top of the lifeless bodies of your idols. I will abhor you.
I will lay your cities waste and bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell the fragrance of your sweet aromas.31I will lay your cities waste and make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will refuse to smell your soothing aromas.
I will bring the land to desolation, and your enemies who dwell in it shall be astonished at it.32I myself will make the land desolate and your enemies who live in it will be appalled.
I will scatter you among the nations and draw out a sword after you; your land shall be desolate and your cities waste.33I will scatter you among the nations and unsheathe the sword after you, so your land will become desolate and your cities will become a waste.
Then the land shall enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies’ land; then the land shall rest and enjoy its sabbaths.34"'Then the land will make up for its Sabbaths all the days it lies desolate while you are in the land of your enemies; then the land will rest and make up its Sabbaths.
As long as it lies desolate it shall rest— for the time it did not rest on your sabbaths when you dwelt in it.35All the days of the desolation it will have the rest it did not have on your Sabbaths when you lived on it.
‘And as for those of you who are left, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a shaken leaf shall cause them to flee; they shall flee as though fleeing from a sword, and they shall fall when no one pursues.36"'As for the ones who remain among you, I will bring despair into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a blowing leaf will pursue them, and they will flee as one who flees the sword and fall down even though there is no pursuer.
They shall stumble over one another, as it were before a sword, when no one pursues; and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies.37They will stumble over each other as those who flee before a sword, though there is no pursuer, and there will be no one to take a stand for you before your enemies.
You shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.38You will perish among the nations; the land of your enemies will consume you.
And those of you who are left shall waste away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; also in their fathers’ iniquities, which are with them, they shall waste away.39"'As for the ones who remain among you, they will rot away because of their iniquity in the lands of your enemies, and they will also rot away because of their ancestors' iniquities which are with them.
But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me,40However, when they confess their iniquity and their ancestors' iniquity which they committed by trespassing against me, by which they also walked in hostility against me
and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their guilt—41(and I myself will walk in hostility against them and bring them into the land of their enemies), and then their uncircumcised hearts become humbled and they make up for their iniquity,
then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember; I will remember the land.42I will remember my covenant with Jacob and also my covenant with Isaac and also my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.
The land also shall be left empty by them, and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; they will accept their guilt, because they despised My judgments and because their soul abhorred My statutes.43The land will be abandoned by them in order that it may make up for its Sabbaths while it is made desolate without them, and they will make up for their iniquity because they have rejected my regulations and have abhorred my statutes.
Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor them, to utterly destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God.44In spite of this, however, when they are in the land of their enemies I will not reject them and abhor them to make a complete end of them, to break my covenant with them, for I am the LORD their God.
But for their sake I will remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.’ ”45I will remember for them the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought out from the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their God. I am the LORD.'"
These are the statutes and judgments and laws which the LORD made between Himself and the children of Israel on Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.46These are the statutes, regulations, and instructions which the LORD established between himself and the Israelites at Mount Sinai through Moses.
