1Next, bring near to you your brother Aaron from among the Israelites, along with his sons Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar, to serve Me as priests. 1וְאַתָּ֡ה הַקְרֵ֣ב אֵלֶיךָ֩ אֶת־ אַהֲרֹ֨ן אָחִ֜יךָ וְאֶת־ בָּנָ֣יו אִתּ֔וֹ מִתּ֛וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לְכַהֲנוֹ־ לִ֑י אַהֲרֹ֕ן נָדָ֧ב וַאֲבִיה֛וּא אֶלְעָזָ֥ר וְאִיתָמָ֖ר בְּנֵ֥י אַהֲרֹֽן׃
2Make holy garments for your brother Aaron to give him dignity and splendor. 2וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ בִגְדֵי־ קֹ֖דֶשׁ לְאַהֲרֹ֣ן אָחִ֑יךָ לְכָב֖וֹד וּלְתִפְאָֽרֶת׃
3You are to instruct all the skilled craftsmen, whom I have filled with a spirit of wisdom, to make garments for Aaron’s consecration, so that he may serve Me as priest. 3וְאַתָּ֗ה תְּדַבֵּר֙ אֶל־ כָּל־ חַכְמֵי־ לֵ֔ב אֲשֶׁ֥ר מִלֵּאתִ֖יו ר֣וּחַ חָכְמָ֑ה וְעָשׂ֞וּ אֶת־ בִּגְדֵ֧י אַהֲרֹ֛ן לְקַדְּשׁ֖וֹ לְכַהֲנוֹ־ לִֽי׃
4These are the garments that they shall make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a woven tunic, a turban, and a sash. They are to make [these] holy garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so that they may serve Me as priests. 4וְאֵ֨לֶּה הַבְּגָדִ֜ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר יַעֲשׂ֗וּ חֹ֤שֶׁן וְאֵפוֹד֙ וּמְעִ֔יל וּכְתֹ֥נֶת תַּשְׁבֵּ֖ץ מִצְנֶ֣פֶת וְאַבְנֵ֑ט וְעָשׂ֨וּ בִגְדֵי־ קֹ֜דֶשׁ לְאַהֲרֹ֥ן אָחִ֛יךָ וּלְבָנָ֖יו לְכַהֲנוֹ־ לִֽי׃
5They shall use gold, along with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine linen. 5וְהֵם֙ יִקְח֣וּ אֶת־ הַזָּהָ֔ב וְאֶת־ הַתְּכֵ֖לֶת וְאֶת־ הָֽאַרְגָּמָ֑ן וְאֶת־ תּוֹלַ֥עַת הַשָּׁנִ֖י וְאֶת־ הַשֵּֽׁשׁ׃ פ
6[The craftsmen] are to make the ephod of finely spun linen embroidered with gold, and with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn. 6וְעָשׂ֖וּ אֶת־ הָאֵפֹ֑ד זָ֠הָב תְּכֵ֨לֶת וְאַרְגָּמָ֜ן תּוֹלַ֧עַת שָׁנִ֛י וְשֵׁ֥שׁ מָשְׁזָ֖ר מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה חֹשֵֽׁב׃
7It shall have two shoulder pieces joined at its two ends, so it can be fastened. 7שְׁתֵּ֧י כְתֵפֹ֣ת חֹֽבְרֹ֗ת יִֽהְיֶה־ לּ֛וֹ אֶל־ שְׁנֵ֥י קְצוֹתָ֖יו וְחֻבָּֽר׃
8The skillfully woven waistband of the ephod must be of one piece, of the same workmanship— with gold, with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and with finely spun linen. 8וְחֵ֤שֶׁב אֲפֻדָּתוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָלָ֔יו כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֖הוּ מִמֶּ֣נּוּ יִהְיֶ֑ה זָהָ֗ב תְּכֵ֧לֶת וְאַרְגָּמָ֛ן וְתוֹלַ֥עַת שָׁנִ֖י וְשֵׁ֥שׁ מָשְׁזָֽר׃
9Take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel: 9וְלָ֣קַחְתָּ֔ אֶת־ שְׁתֵּ֖י אַבְנֵי־ שֹׁ֑הַם וּפִתַּחְתָּ֣ עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם שְׁמ֖וֹת בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
10six of their names on one stone and the remaining six on the other, in the order of their birth. 10שִׁשָּׁה֙ מִשְּׁמֹתָ֔ם עַ֖ל הָאֶ֣בֶן הָאֶחָ֑ת וְאֶת־ שְׁמ֞וֹת הַשִּׁשָּׁ֧ה הַנּוֹתָרִ֛ים עַל־ הָאֶ֥בֶן הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית כְּתוֹלְדֹתָֽם׃
11Engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel, to be set as a gem cutter engraves a seal. Mount [the stones] in gold filigree settings. 11מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה חָרַשׁ֮ אֶבֶן֒ פִּתּוּחֵ֣י חֹתָ֗ם תְּפַתַּח֙ אֶת־ שְׁתֵּ֣י הָאֲבָנִ֔ים עַל־ שְׁמֹ֖ת בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מֻסַבֹּ֛ת מִשְׁבְּצ֥וֹת זָהָ֖ב תַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה אֹתָֽם׃
12Fasten both stones onto the shoulder pieces of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. Aaron is to bear their names on his two shoulders as a memorial before the LORD. 12וְשַׂמְתָּ֞ אֶת־ שְׁתֵּ֣י הָאֲבָנִ֗ים עַ֚ל כִּתְפֹ֣ת הָֽאֵפֹ֔ד אַבְנֵ֥י זִכָּרֹ֖ן לִבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְנָשָׂא֩ אַהֲרֹ֨ן אֶת־ שְׁמוֹתָ֜ם לִפְנֵ֧י יְהוָ֛ה עַל־ שְׁתֵּ֥י כְתֵפָ֖יו לְזִכָּרֹֽן׃ ס
13Fashion gold filigree settings 13וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ מִשְׁבְּצֹ֖ת זָהָֽב׃
14and two chains of pure gold, made of braided cord work; and attach [these] chains to the settings. 14וּשְׁתֵּ֤י שַׁרְשְׁרֹת֙ זָהָ֣ב טָה֔וֹר מִגְבָּלֹ֛ת תַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה אֹתָ֖ם מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה עֲבֹ֑ת וְנָתַתָּ֛ה אֶת־ שַׁרְשְׁרֹ֥ת הָעֲבֹתֹ֖ת עַל־ הַֽמִּשְׁבְּצֹֽת׃ ס
15You are also to make a breastpiece of judgment with the same workmanship as the ephod. Construct it with gold, with blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and finely spun linen. 15וְעָשִׂ֜יתָ חֹ֤שֶׁן מִשְׁפָּט֙ מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה חֹשֵׁ֔ב כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה אֵפֹ֖ד תַּעֲשֶׂ֑נּוּ זָ֠הָב תְּכֵ֨לֶת וְאַרְגָּמָ֜ן וְתוֹלַ֧עַת שָׁנִ֛י וְשֵׁ֥שׁ מָשְׁזָ֖ר תַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה אֹתֽוֹ׃
16It must be square when folded over double, a span long and a span wide. 16רָב֥וּעַ יִֽהְיֶ֖ה כָּפ֑וּל זֶ֥רֶת אָרְכּ֖וֹ וְזֶ֥רֶת רָחְבּֽוֹ׃
17And mount on it a setting of gemstones, four rows of stones: In the first row there shall be a ruby, a topaz, and an emerald; 17וּמִלֵּאתָ֥ בוֹ֙ מִלֻּ֣אַת אֶ֔בֶן אַרְבָּעָ֖ה טוּרִ֣ים אָ֑בֶן ט֗וּר אֹ֤דֶם פִּטְדָה֙ וּבָרֶ֔קֶת הַטּ֖וּר הָאֶחָֽד׃
18in the second row a turquoise, a sapphire, and a diamond; 18וְהַטּ֖וּר הַשֵּׁנִ֑י נֹ֥פֶךְ סַפִּ֖יר וְיָהֲלֹֽם׃
19in the third row a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst; 19וְהַטּ֖וּר הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑י לֶ֥שֶׁם שְׁב֖וֹ וְאַחְלָֽמָה׃
20and in the fourth row a beryl, an onyx, and a jasper. Mount [these stones] in gold filigree settings. 20וְהַטּוּר֙ הָרְבִיעִ֔י תַּרְשִׁ֥ישׁ וְשֹׁ֖הַם וְיָשְׁפֵ֑ה מְשֻׁבָּצִ֥ים זָהָ֛ב יִהְי֖וּ בְּמִלּוּאֹתָֽם׃
21The twelve stones are to correspond to the names of the sons of Israel, each engraved like a seal with the name of one of the twelve tribes. 21וְ֠הָאֲבָנִים תִּֽהְיֶ֜יןָ עַל־ שְׁמֹ֧ת בְּנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל שְׁתֵּ֥ים עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה עַל־ שְׁמֹתָ֑ם פִּתּוּחֵ֤י חוֹתָם֙ אִ֣ישׁ עַל־ שְׁמ֔וֹ תִּֽהְיֶ֕יןָ לִשְׁנֵ֥י עָשָׂ֖ר שָֽׁבֶט׃
22For the breastpiece make braided chains like cords of pure gold. 22וְעָשִׂ֧יתָ עַל־ הַחֹ֛שֶׁן שַֽׁרְשֹׁ֥ת גַּבְלֻ֖ת מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה עֲבֹ֑ת זָהָ֖ב טָהֽוֹר׃
23Make two gold rings and attach them to the two corners of the breastpiece. 23וְעָשִׂ֙יתָ֙ עַל־ הַחֹ֔שֶׁן שְׁתֵּ֖י טַבְּע֣וֹת זָהָ֑ב וְנָתַתָּ֗ אֶת־ שְׁתֵּי֙ הַטַּבָּע֔וֹת עַל־ שְׁנֵ֖י קְצ֥וֹת הַחֹֽשֶׁן׃
24Then attach the two gold chains to the two gold rings at the corners of the breastpiece, 24וְנָתַתָּ֗ה אֶת־ שְׁתֵּי֙ עֲבֹתֹ֣ת הַזָּהָ֔ב עַל־ שְׁתֵּ֖י הַטַּבָּעֹ֑ת אֶל־ קְצ֖וֹת הַחֹֽשֶׁן׃
25and attach the other ends of the two chains to the two filigree settings, fastening them to the ephod’s shoulder pieces in the front. 25וְאֵ֨ת שְׁתֵּ֤י קְצוֹת֙ שְׁתֵּ֣י הָעֲבֹתֹ֔ת תִּתֵּ֖ן עַל־ שְׁתֵּ֣י הַֽמִּשְׁבְּצ֑וֹת וְנָתַתָּ֛ה עַל־ כִּתְפ֥וֹת הָאֵפֹ֖ד אֶל־ מ֥וּל פָּנָֽיו׃
26Make two [more] gold rings and attach them to the other two corners of the breastpiece, on the edge next to the inner border of the ephod. 26וְעָשִׂ֗יתָ שְׁתֵּי֙ טַבְּע֣וֹת זָהָ֔ב וְשַׂמְתָּ֣ אֹתָ֔ם עַל־ שְׁנֵ֖י קְצ֣וֹת הַחֹ֑שֶׁן עַל־ שְׂפָת֕וֹ אֲשֶׁ֛ר אֶל־ עֵ֥בֶר הָאֵפֹ֖ד בָּֽיְתָה׃
27Make two [additional] gold rings and attach them to the bottom of the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, on its front, close to its seam and above the woven waistband of the ephod. 27וְעָשִׂיתָ֮ שְׁתֵּ֣י טַבְּע֣וֹת זָהָב֒ וְנָתַתָּ֣ה אֹתָ֡ם עַל־ שְׁתֵּי֩ כִתְפ֨וֹת הָאֵפ֤וֹד מִלְּמַ֙טָּה֙ מִמּ֣וּל פָּנָ֔יו לְעֻמַּ֖ת מֶחְבַּרְתּ֑וֹ מִמַּ֕עַל לְחֵ֖שֶׁב הָאֵפֽוֹד׃
28The rings of the breastpiece shall be tied to the rings of the ephod with a cord of blue yarn, so that the breastpiece is above the waistband of the ephod and does not swing out from the ephod. 28וְיִרְכְּס֣וּ אֶת־ הַ֠חֹשֶׁן [מטבעתו] (מִֽטַּבְּעֹתָ֞יו) אֶל־ טַבְּעֹ֤ת הָאֵפֹד֙ בִּפְתִ֣יל תְּכֵ֔לֶת לִֽהְי֖וֹת עַל־ חֵ֣שֶׁב הָאֵפ֑וֹד וְלֹֽא־ יִזַּ֣ח הַחֹ֔שֶׁן מֵעַ֖ל הָאֵפֽוֹד׃
29Whenever [Aaron] enters the Holy [Place], [he] shall bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart on the breastpiece of judgment, as a continual reminder before the LORD. 29וְנָשָׂ֣א אַ֠הֲרֹן אֶת־ שְׁמ֨וֹת בְּנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל בְּחֹ֧שֶׁן הַמִּשְׁפָּ֛ט עַל־ לִבּ֖וֹ בְּבֹא֣וֹ אֶל־ הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ לְזִכָּרֹ֥ן לִפְנֵֽי־ יְהוָ֖ה תָּמִֽיד׃
30And place the Urim and Thummim in the breastpiece of judgment, so that they will also be over Aaron’s heart whenever he comes before the LORD. Aaron will continually carry the judgment of the sons of Israel over his heart before the LORD. 30וְנָתַתָּ֞ אֶל־ חֹ֣שֶׁן הַמִּשְׁפָּ֗ט אֶת־ הָאוּרִים֙ וְאֶת־ הַתֻּמִּ֔ים וְהָיוּ֙ עַל־ לֵ֣ב אַהֲרֹ֔ן בְּבֹא֖וֹ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְנָשָׂ֣א אַ֠הֲרֹן אֶת־ מִשְׁפַּ֨ט בְּנֵי־ יִשְׂרָאֵ֧ל עַל־ לִבּ֛וֹ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה תָּמִֽיד׃ ס
31You are to make the robe of the ephod entirely of blue yarn, 31וְעָשִׂ֛יתָ אֶת־ מְעִ֥יל הָאֵפ֖וֹד כְּלִ֥יל תְּכֵֽלֶת׃
32with an opening at its top in the center. Around [the opening] shall be a woven collar with an opening like that of a garment, so that it will not tear. 32וְהָיָ֥ה פִֽי־ רֹאשׁ֖וֹ בְּתוֹכ֑וֹ שָׂפָ֡ה יִֽהְיֶה֩ לְפִ֨יו סָבִ֜יב מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה אֹרֵ֗ג כְּפִ֥י תַחְרָ֛א יִֽהְיֶה־ לּ֖וֹ לֹ֥א יִקָּרֵֽעַ׃
33Make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn all the way around the lower hem, with gold bells between them, 33וְעָשִׂ֣יתָ עַל־ שׁוּלָ֗יו רִמֹּנֵי֙ תְּכֵ֤לֶת וְאַרְגָּמָן֙ וְתוֹלַ֣עַת שָׁנִ֔י עַל־ שׁוּלָ֖יו סָבִ֑יב וּפַעֲמֹנֵ֥י זָהָ֛ב בְּתוֹכָ֖ם סָבִֽיב׃
34so that gold bells and pomegranates alternate around the lower hem of the robe. 34פַּעֲמֹ֤ן זָהָב֙ וְרִמּ֔וֹן פַּֽעֲמֹ֥ן זָהָ֖ב וְרִמּ֑וֹן עַל־ שׁוּלֵ֥י הַמְּעִ֖יל סָבִֽיב׃
35Aaron must wear the robe whenever he ministers, and its sound will be heard when he enters or exits the sanctuary before the LORD, so that he will not die. 35וְהָיָ֥ה עַֽל־ אַהֲרֹ֖ן לְשָׁרֵ֑ת וְנִשְׁמַ֣ע ק֠וֹלוֹ בְּבֹא֨וֹ אֶל־ הַקֹּ֜דֶשׁ לִפְנֵ֧י יְהוָ֛ה וּבְצֵאת֖וֹ וְלֹ֥א יָמֽוּת׃ ס
36You are to make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it as a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD. 36וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ צִּ֖יץ זָהָ֣ב טָה֑וֹר וּפִתַּחְתָּ֤ עָלָיו֙ פִּתּוּחֵ֣י חֹתָ֔ם קֹ֖דֶשׁ לַֽיהוָֽה׃
37Fasten a blue cord to it to attach it to the turban; it is to be on the front of the turban. 37וְשַׂמְתָּ֤ אֹתוֹ֙ עַל־ פְּתִ֣יל תְּכֵ֔לֶת וְהָיָ֖ה עַל־ הַמִּצְנָ֑פֶת אֶל־ מ֥וּל פְּנֵֽי־ הַמִּצְנֶ֖פֶת יִהְיֶֽה׃
38It will be on Aaron’s forehead, so that [he] may bear the iniquity of the holy things that the sons of Israel consecrate with regard to all their holy gifts. It shall always be on his forehead, so that [the people] may be acceptable before the LORD. 38וְהָיָה֮ עַל־ מֵ֣צַח אַהֲרֹן֒ וְנָשָׂ֨א אַהֲרֹ֜ן אֶת־ עֲוֺ֣ן הַקֳּדָשִׁ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר יַקְדִּ֙ישׁוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לְכָֽל־ מַתְּנֹ֖ת קָדְשֵׁיהֶ֑ם וְהָיָ֤ה עַל־ מִצְחוֹ֙ תָּמִ֔יד לְרָצ֥וֹן לָהֶ֖ם לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
39You are to weave the tunic with fine linen, make the turban of fine linen, and fashion an embroidered sash. 39וְשִׁבַּצְתָּ֙ הַכְּתֹ֣נֶת שֵׁ֔שׁ וְעָשִׂ֖יתָ מִצְנֶ֣פֶת שֵׁ֑שׁ וְאַבְנֵ֥ט תַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה רֹקֵֽם׃
40Make tunics, sashes, and headbands for Aaron’s sons, to give them dignity and splendor. 40וְלִבְנֵ֤י אַהֲרֹן֙ תַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה כֻתֳּנֹ֔ת וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ לָהֶ֖ם אַבְנֵטִ֑ים וּמִגְבָּעוֹת֙ תַּעֲשֶׂ֣ה לָהֶ֔ם לְכָב֖וֹד וּלְתִפְאָֽרֶת׃
41After you put [these garments] on your brother Aaron and his sons, anoint them, ordain them, and consecrate them so that they may serve Me as priests. 41וְהִלְבַּשְׁתָּ֤ אֹתָם֙ אֶת־ אַהֲרֹ֣ן אָחִ֔יךָ וְאֶת־ בָּנָ֖יו אִתּ֑וֹ וּמָשַׁחְתָּ֨ אֹתָ֜ם וּמִלֵּאתָ֧ אֶת־ יָדָ֛ם וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֥ אֹתָ֖ם וְכִהֲנ֥וּ לִֽי׃
42Make linen undergarments to cover their bare flesh, extending from waist to thigh. 42וַעֲשֵׂ֤ה לָהֶם֙ מִכְנְסֵי־ בָ֔ד לְכַסּ֖וֹת בְּשַׂ֣ר עֶרְוָ֑ה מִמָּתְנַ֥יִם וְעַד־ יְרֵכַ֖יִם יִהְיֽוּ׃
43Aaron and his sons must wear them whenever they enter the tent of meeting or approach the altar to minister in the Holy [Place], so that they will not incur guilt and die. This is to be a permanent statute for Aaron and his descendants. 43וְהָיוּ֩ עַל־ אַהֲרֹ֨ן וְעַל־ בָּנָ֜יו בְּבֹאָ֣ם ׀ אֶל־ אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֗ד א֣וֹ בְגִשְׁתָּ֤ם אֶל־ הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ לְשָׁרֵ֣ת בַּקֹּ֔דֶשׁ וְלֹא־ יִשְׂא֥וּ עָוֺ֖ן וָמֵ֑תוּ חֻקַּ֥ת עוֹלָ֛ם ל֖וֹ וּלְזַרְע֥וֹ אַחֲרָֽיו׃ ס
